Part 2: 2016 Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association Red-Tie Soirée
The Nantucket Red-Tie Soirée is the Maria Mitchell Association's largest fundraiser. This popular event takes place at Sankaty Head Golf Club on Sunday, July 10th. There will be two open bars, Spanky's Raw Bar, hot food, raw bar, silent auction, live music, and much more! Get your tickets today!
Nantucket Science Festival 2015
The 2015 Nantucket Science Festival was put on by the Maria Mitchell Association and the Nantucket Community School with the help of many island non profits and businesses. Over 200 people of all ages attended this free event to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning. Activities included robotics, sensory tables, nanotechnology, electricity, rockets and science crafts. Thank you to all the organizations that helped make it possible!

Who is Maria Mitchell? Maria Mitchell was a famous astronomer and educator in the 19th century United States. She inspired many young women to pursue scientific and educational careers. This is the inaugural video of Women's Stories, a YouTube channel dedicated to publishing stories of women to inspire girls, encourage young women and celebrate women's lives. These stories present short vignettes about historical and current women.

Kevin Spacey arraignment on indecent assault and battery charges in Nantucket, MA
Actor Kevin Spacey will be arraigned in a Nantucket, Massachusetts courtroom this morning on indecent assault and battery charges. The actor allegedly sexually assaulted the then-18-year-old son of former Boston news anchor Heather Unruh in the summer of 2016. The charge represents the first criminal case against the actor, who was fired from his role on Netflix's 'House of Cards' after several sexual misconduct allegations were leveled against him.
