Marina Barrage - Beautiful Recreational Place in Singapore
Review and Information about Marina Barrage.
Marina Barrage is Part dam and part tourist attraction, it has a multi-purpose attraction in Singapore, just a short walk away from Gardens by the Bay on the very southern tip of the main island.
Although Marina Barrage main function serves as a dam - aiding water storage and flood control for the whole of Singapore - most visitors know it as a place of recreation, proving especially popular for kite flying, picnic and the stunning sunset views from the main elevated section of grass looking across the city.
Build in 2008, Marina Barrage comprises a main dam stretching from Marina East to Marina South. The most-visited spot here, is the elevated patch of green spaced, accessible via a lift inside the main complex of via the futuristic looping pathway that goes up to the top.
Because of the position, the lack of any skyscrapers in the area and the fact that it’s right next to the sea help to make this place as one of Singapore’s windiest spots – perfect for kite flying.
At the background, you can see you can find Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, Cloud Forest, and the Office Skyscraper. It is a very good place to take a photo.
Marina Barrage entrance is Free.

Marina Barrage: A Singapore Sucess Story
In 2008, the Marina Barrage was completed, creating an iconic freshwater reservoir in the heart of the city, which the late Lee Kuan Yew had envisioned two decades earlier. It has been considered an engineering marvel because of its magnitude and complexity. The barrage is dubbed a three-in-one project as it serves three objectives: creating a new source of water supply, acting as a tool for flood control, and providing a new lifestyle attraction.

Open the Flood Gates!! - Marina Barrage Singapore [4K]
Cycled down to Marina Barrage to capture all the shots here. Was fortunate enough to be caught in a heavy thunderstorm which caused the gates at Marina Barrage to be opened! Luckily the storm passed and the clouds cleared so I was able to launch the drone to scope out the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge Run as well as MBS, Gardens by the Bay, The Singapore Flyer and The F1 Pit Building. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did capturing and editing the footage.

EXPLORING Marina Barrage, Singapore
The S$3 billion project turns Marina Bay and Kallang Basin into a new downtown freshwater Marina Reservoir. It provides water supply, flood control and a new lifestyle attraction.
By keeping out seawater, the barrage forms Singapore’s 15th reservoir and first reservoir in the city. Marina Reservoir, together with the future Punggol and Serangoon reservoirs, will increase Singapore’s water catchment areas to one-sixth of Singapore’s total land area.

Today, I go exploring around the Marina Barrage area.
The weather wasn't perfect, but at least it was cool enough to move around on foot. I went on to capture some video footage to showcase this amazing place.

Marina barrage is a water reservoir for Singapore as well as a recreational place for everyone. The rooftop park serves as a picnic area for all, kite flying plus the very beautiful view of the Marina Bay especially in the afternoon to midnight.
Marina barrage is a walking distance from Gardens by the bay. The nearest MRT is the Marina South Pier Station via North South Line(red line) and another is the Bayfront Station via Circle line (yellow line).

Giant Kites and LED Kites at Marina Barrage Singapore
Marina Barrage is one of the favourite places to play kite in Singapore.
When i came in the afternoon, there are a lot of kites flying, the most amazing one is the giant kites that kids love to play with. But adult must accompany to keep the kids safe while playing.
Fortunately, Kiss92's 5th Birthday Picnic in the Park event happening on the same day, so I can follow the show.
You can enjoy the Bouncy Castles, Carnival Booths, face painting, family dash, manicure booths, balloon sculpturing, performances from 53A, Gareth Fernandez, Jack and Rai and the food trucks .
I also take a video of the LED Kites Special performance by GoFlyKite.

The best kite flying spot of Singapore..Believe me !!!
Arrive any evening around sunset (when the day’s heat has died down a little) to see the sky filled with colorful kites of all shapes and sizes. This, along with the stunning backdrop of downtown Singapore (you can see Gardens by the Bay, Cloud Forest, Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the CBD’s skyscrapers) make for one of the best photo ops on the whole island.
Marina Barrage, a project commissioned by PUB, was officially opened on 31 Oct 2008 by Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore's Prime Minister.

Marina Barrage, an important dam area in Singapore offers great views of downtown city-scape of Singapore as well as the ocean front. It is also one of the few areas where one is allowed to fly drones in Singapore. Hence I decided to take advantage of this location and obtain some drone footage with my DJI Mavic Pro drone.
