Novel hotel in tsunami-devastated Onagawa, Japan
The Great Tōhoku Tsunami of March 11, 2011, wiped out fully 80% of Onagawa in northeast Miyagi. Much of the land is now deemed unsafe for construction, so even if the townspeople wish to they cannot rebuild. Furthermore, there is almost no lodging for volunteers and construction workers, piling on yet more to the heap of difficulties the town faces.
But a pragmatic solution to that last problem may now have been found...
