For My Birthday we decided to go back to Niagara Falls Ontario. Come for an adventure with us! THIS IS THE LAZLOW ZONE!
Marineland (official name Marineland of Canada Inc.), is a themed amusement park and zoo in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Opened in 1961, the park has roller coasters and a triple tower ride, along with marine shows and exhibits of dolphins, walruses, sea lions, an orca, and beluga whales. The park also keeps bears, deer and other land animals. The park's keeping of sea mammals is controversial and the park is involved in several lawsuits over the practice. The park does not release annual attendance figures. Published amounts range from 250,000 to 500,000 annually.
Attractions
Marineland of Canada keeps about 4,000 land and marine animals. Marineland operates 16 rides ranging from rides for children, to thrill rides for adults.The marine animals perform several time daily at King Waldorf Stadium.
Marine exhibits
Marineland keeps beluga whales, bottlenose dolphins, grey seals, harbour seals, sea lions, a walrus (Smooshi) and one orca ('killer whale'). The belugas are kept in Arctic Cove, Friendship Cove and King Waldorf Stadium. As of August 2017, Marineland had 53 belugas.
Kiska is the only orca at Marineland. 2012 report stated that Marineland was then looking for a companion for their orca. Since then, it appears that Kiska will be the last orca that the park will own. On May 28, 2015, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario passed the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment Act. The act prohibits the possession or breeding of orcas in Ontario while allowing Marineland to keep its orca. Marineland has stated its opposition to moving Kiska. A lawyer acting for the park in 2015 made the following comment: She's very elderly, so it's the equivalent of taking someone who is 80 years old or 90 years old in an old folks' home and moving them into an apartment in the Village in New York ... and it is entirely reasonable, achievable and appropriate to provide for her, on loan from another facility, an age-appropriate companion but added that the 2015 Ontario Act does not allow for that.
Bird Kingdom is an aviary in the tourist district of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Opened in May 2003, it is the largest free flying indoor aviary in the world. The attraction encompasses approximately 45,000 square feet (4,200 m2), and houses over 350 birds, the majority of which come from Australia, South America, and Africa. It is also home to mammals, reptiles and amphibians which are part of educational programs. Bird Kingdom has been voted a top family attraction in Niagara Falls and was inducted into the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame in 2016.
Main Aviary
A silvery-cheeked hornbill in the Main Aviary.
The $16 million section of Bird Kingdom consists of 45,000 square feet (4,200 m2) of rainforest and houses 350 birds. Those birds represent approximately 80 species from around the globe, which live in the tropical environment maintained at 76 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to the birds, there is also a 40-foot (12 m) tall waterfall. Visitors are able to feed lorikeets, and take self-guided tours.
Bird Kingdom houses the only authentic Javanese nobleman's house in North America. The house was hand carved with solid teak wood and constructed without nails. In the 19th century, houses like this were for the aristocratic class. The front door of the house faces south, supposedly facing the sea. The intricate carving on the roof shows visitors that the house was for a nobleman.

Tips for visiting Marineland in Niagara Falls
Here are a few time savers that I wish I knew before I planned our recent family day at Marineland in Niagara Falls.
Marineland has much more than just marine life(Orcas, Belugas, Seals, Walrus, Dolphins, huge Koi etc), I was surprised to find other animals there (deer, bears, elk, bison,) and some fantastic rides (a huge roller-coaster, big sky drop etc ).
All in a park that is small enough that you can see it all in one day. Any bigger and you would feel like you needed 2 days to see it all.

I've been to a lot of amusement parks and this one might be the weirdest one I've ever been to! Uncle Nate and I took a visit Marineland which is located just minutes from Niagara Falls in Canada. The park feels nearly abandoned and has quite the strange layout. Watch as we struggle to navigate the park or find any rides!

a Super8 mm homemovie film by Frank Baker, that he originally donated to the St Catharines Museum shortly before he passed away, which later re-donated the film to the Niagara Falls Museums for safe keeping, who contacted me in November 2019 to digitize. Afterwards I got the permission of Frank's sons, Roger and Frank Jr, to upload it to this youtube channel. Then finally yesterday, permission from Niagara Falls Museums arrived. So, here it is. Enjoy.
My memory of Marineland was a few years before this film, late 1960s. A cousin came to Toronto, and I took her to Niagara Falls, a light 1st snow on the ground. We wound up walking around the closed-for-season grounds of Marineland. At the back of a large tall curved-wall building I spotted a door, the bottom of which was at my chest level, which I thought seemed odd. I tried the door and surprise, it opened. I peered into a huge water area, saw a seal, and then a large dark black/white shape rising up right underneath me, and an Orca burst forth and almost kissed me, but missed because I went flying back out of the way. Wow, I wish I had homemovie film of THAT experience !
