Sydney Emden 100 Commemorations
Between Friday 7th and Tuesday 11th November 2014, the Cocos Keeling Islands hosted the 'Weekend of Commemorations' for the 100 year anniversary of 'The Battle of Cocos'. On 9 November 1914 the HMAS Sydney I defeated the German raider SMS Emden, this was Australia's first naval battle victory.
