Canon S95 Movie Test 13 - Markeaton Brook.
Markeaton Brook, Derby, at 6.30am, on a sparkling summer morning. The birds are still singing their dawn chorus. The movie illustrates how good the S95's image quality and stereo sound are. Quite breathtaking for a compact camera. Put together with iMovie.
Water voles on the Letcombe Brook
This endearing creature is Britain's most rapidly declining mammal, because of habitat loss and predation by mink. However, the Letcombe Brook has been a refuge for it. On the upper reaches there have been sightings in most recent years. This video was recorded near the source in 2011, but they not been seen there since 2015. However, thanks to work carried out by BBOWT's Water Vole Recovery Project, the Letcombe Brook Project and local landowners, there is a thriving population downstream, and we hope they will soon return.
