Today is our last day in Marlborough and our last full day on the South Island! We decide to check out the regional museum called the Marlborough Museum situated in Blenheim town!
While the Marlborough Museum covers the history of the Maori and Europeans of the area, it’s actually the perfect place to learn about Marlborough wine. It’s a must-do for anyone interested in New Zealand wine!

Tour TravelEssence has sixty Dutch out of the New Zealand Kaikoura. The earthquake last weekend, the only access road to the coastal village impassable and tourists stuck. The company has hired a plane, because assistance from the New Zealand navy still in gestation.
The tour company picks up the Dutch who have booked them in groups of eight or nine people. They are all expected to have picked up today. After that they travel to Blenheim and Wellington.

Actually, the Dutch had to wait for the arrival of the Navy, but that could take a few days. That takes us too long and that is why we have hired a plane, said a spokesman for TravelEssence.
Kaikoura was killed by the earthquake. A runway instead got hardly damaged by the quake and is now being used to rescue the tourists. In the coastal village stay more than 1,200 tourists, including so sixty Dutch.

The majority of vehicles are privately owned and have been faithfully restored to original condition. Museum open every Wednesday and Sunday from 1.30 - 4.00 pm.

Marlborough Associated Modellers operate model cars, boats and trains. An extensive two-track rail system meanders through their gardens, replicating in miniature the sights and sounds of classic steam and diesel from days past.
The trains are full working models and operate for riders on the first and third Sunday of every month.

This museum houses the largest display of vintage farm machinery in the Southern Hemisphere with some very rare tractors, engines, and machinery. Over 80 different tractors are on display including a 1910 Blackstone, the only known one in existence.

Today we are joining Sounds Connection for a Marlborough Wine Tour. The Marlborough Wine Tour starts from Picton, when we are picked up right outside our accommodation, then we hit the road with our Sounds Connection tour guide to the Marlborough winemaking region.
We stop at four different wineries on this Marlborough Winery Tour to taste an variety of wines from pinot gris to Riesling to sauvignon blanc. There’s something for everyone on this Marlborough Wine Tour from Picton.
In total, we try over 22 different tastings of Marlborough wine on this Marlborough winery tour where we go from Marlborough winery to winery, Marlborough vineyard to vineyard. We have tastings in each Marlborough winery’s cellar door where we learn more about the Marlborough wine region and the winemaking process.
Finally, after visiting four Marlborough wineries we arrive at Makana confections chocolate factory for some chocolate samples.

First World War flyers at Ōmaka - Roadside Stories
The death of German pilot the Red Baron -- killed by an Australian soldier in the First World War -- is at the centre of an aviation museum at Ōmaka, near Blenheim. Film director Peter Jackson's collection of First World War fighter aircraft is also on display, along with a tribute to the carrier pigeons that delivered messages during the war.
