STORYLINE:
Rebel fighters took to the streets around Tripoli''s Martyr Square on Friday night to celebrate their recent successes, as the Libyan capital began to look like a solidly rebel-held city.
Those opposing Moammar Gadhafi''s regime fired guns into the air in the formerly named Green Square under Gadhafi regime and vowed to track down the elusive leader.
Finally, after six months, we are free now. So we are celebrating by freedom of Tripoli. And I think the whole Libya is free now. So and I think it''s a very great time, this comes one time in life. I will tell Gadhafi we are coming to you, we will get you out of your hole, said rebel fighter Wadiya El-Arabi, who took part in Friday night''s celebrations in the capital.
British warplanes struck a large bunker on Friday in Gadhafi''s hometown of Sirte, his largest remaining stronghold, as NATO turned its attention to loyalist forces trying to hold back advancing Libyan rebels in the area.
The air strikes came a day after fierce clashes erupted in the Libyan capital, which remained tense as rebels looked for Gadhafi, detaining suspected loyalists and raising concerns about human rights violations.
Friday was the calmest day in Tripoli since Moammar Gadhafi''s opponents swept in nearly a week ago, although pro-Gadhafi forces were shelling the airport and sporadic shooting was reported elsewhere in the metropolis of 2 (m) million people.
At the first Friday prayers since the capital fell, hundreds of people crowded a central mosque, listening as the Imam praised the rebels for taking up arms against Gadhafi.
There had been a plan to hold prayers at the Martyr Square, which was called Green Square under Gadhafi''s regime, but it was littered with bullet casings and rubbish so worshippers decided to hold the service at a nearby mosque.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the rebel council told reporters in Tripoli that the rebel government had begun shifting from Benghazi to the capital, taking over official buildings and setting up a security committee.
He also said some people from Gadhafi''s regime would be included in the new government.

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of people gathered in Libya''s Martyrs'' Square on Wednesday to mark the end of the Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.
Armed men guarded the area as people took part in Eid al-Fitr prayers.
Tripoli''s Green Square was renamed Martyrs'' Square after rebels took the capital last week.
Tears were shed by some worshippers, clearly moved by the six months of unrest in their country which has seen the toppling of the regime of Moammar Gadhafi.
Preparations for the three days of Eid, which is Libya''s first in 42 years without a dictator, have been hampered by widespread shortages of water, fuel and other provisions.
There were similar scenes in the eastern city of Benghazi where the uprising against Gadhafi began six months ago.
It was also a time for many to celebrate the freedom they feel now that Gadhafi''s rule has ended.
One Benghazi resident, Abdul Wahab Mohamed, described what it meant to him.

Large anti government protest held in Tripoli's Martyrs Square
Thousands of people gathered in Tripoli's Martyrs Square on Friday to call for the return of the General National Congress, Libya's outgoing parliament.
Many waved large flags and chanted anti-government slogans, with some saying they would only recognise the GNC as the valid legislative body.
In my opinion, in general, there is no value in the parliament, said one man. I only recognise the General National Congress as the basis of building a democratic state in Libya.
Friday's protest came after Libya's interim government submitted its resignation to the newly elected parliament, raising the possibility that a more inclusive government will be formed.
The outgoing parliament voted on Monday to replace the current interim government with one headed by an Islamist-backed candidate, deepening the conflict-torn country's already stark divisions and leaving it with two rival parliaments and governments.
The outgoing parliament met in Tripoli in defiance of the newly elected parliament, which convenes in the country's east because of ongoing clashes in the capital and the eastern city of Benghazi.
The Islamist-dominated outgoing parliament refused to recognise the authority of the new one, which is dominated by non-Islamists, because it said it has not formally handed over authority.
The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni, said it had submitted its resignation on Wednesday.
It said in statement that it hopes the parliament chooses a new government that represents all Libyan factions without exclusion.
Al-Thinni's government was at odds with militants who have taken over the capital, Tripoli.
In stepping down, it has opened a door for a political solution to Libya's violent divisions.
