Classic EMD on tour - S313 to Echuca and Maryborough: Australian Trains
On 5 February 2000, Steamrail Victoria operated a railfan trip to Echuca via Seymour and return via Castlemaine, Maryborough and Ballarat. Clyde/EMD diesel loco S313 had recently been painted in an ATSF inspired livery and was the motive power for the tour. The carriages were a mix of ex SAR steel cars, a BRS and the Norman parlor car.
This was back in the days before the nanny state, so we had several photo stops during the trip, which is when most of the footage was filmed.
These days photo stops are a distant memory and two of the lines used on this tour have been mothballed (Toolamba - Echuca and Castlemaine - Maryborough).

EMD Grain on the Castlemaine to Maryborough line - Rare footage: Australian Trains
On the evening of 14/2/2002 I chased 9126 up grain along the now closed Castlemaine to Maryborough line and this is the resulting video. X51, S307 and X53 were on the noisy end.
The short section from Moolort to Maryborough remains open and has been used for grain and ballast. The future of the remainder of the line remains uncertain so I was lucky I got these shots when I did.
Since this video was shot, X53 has been sold to QR National and is now a regular on east coast standard gauge freights. X51 and S307 are still owned by Pacific National, but S307 is currently stored at Newport.
