Waquoit Bay - Falmouth and Mashpee Massachusetts
Waquoit Bay (on the shores on Falmouth and Mashpee, Massachusetts). On an early spring day when the gusty winds and cold weather kept the feel of winter in the air, we visited the Waquoit Bay Estuarine Research Reserve at the Northwest area of the Bay. It is part of the Massachusetts State Parks system and is one of the 29 sites of the National Estuarine Research Reserve system. We walked a nearby trail into the Bay View Cemetery that was established in the 1800s. After overlooking the Bay, we took a trail down to the shoreline at the top of the Bay. (This area is part of Falmouth, Massachusetts). We then traveled southeast into Mashpee and onto Mashpee Beach where we could see the piping plovers at the water’s edge. We continued to walk one mile along the South Cape Beach to where the mouth of the Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. We hope you enjoy the views!

There were 599 votes cast in today's election, believed to be a record turnout for the tribe. Throughout the day, cars poured in to the mud-soaked parking lot, filtering through campaigning candidates and their supporters. The voting line snaked past the council building and trailers during the three-hour polling period.
Cromwell and three other candidates who ran on the platform of change swept the election.
Aaron Tobey, a current council member, will now serve as vice chairman. Marie Lopez-Stone ousted Desire Hendricks Moreno for secretary, and Mark Harding beat out incumbent treasurer Nellie Ramos for that seat. Selena Jonas secured the open council spot.

Mashpee Massachusetts (MA) Real Estate Tour
Tour Mashpee, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Mashpee, Massachusetts is the fastest growing municipality in the Commonwealth, a scenic coastal community graced by natural beauty. Along with the Martha's Vineyard Town of Aquinnah, it is unique as one of the remaining homes of the Wampanoag Nation, the Native American tribe which met the Pilgrims at Plymouth.
Although now outnumbered by new residents, the Wampanoag continue to play a significant role in defining the character of Mashpee through the town's Indian Museum, the annual July Pow Wow and other ongoing activities of the Tribal Council.
With over five miles of sandy beaches on Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds, extensive water frontage on Waquoit and Popponesset Bays, four of the largest freshwater ponds on Cape Cod, three championship golf courses and numerous other visitor amenities such as the nationally recognized Mashpee Commons project, Mashpee is a prime resort, seasonal home and retirement community offering both a relaxed pace of life and a full range of civil services.
With enhancement of its economic base in mind, Mashpee is actively seeking both environmentally friendly industrial and commercial development and increased tourist facilities. As part of that effort the Board of Selectmen has officially embarked on a green tourism development project focusing on enhanced access and programming at the town's 1,000-plus acres of conservation lands as well as South Cape Beach State Park, the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and The Lowell Holly and Mashpee River Reservations.
In addition, 2200 acres in Mashpee have been proposed for inclusion in a new National Wildlife Refuge. All of these efforts are intended to insure that Mashpee remains true to its Native American heritage, maintains its economic vitality and protects its natural resources. For other town tours visit . MASHPEE, MA- US Army Pfc Paul Conlon Burial (08-26-08)
BOURNE, MA— Paul Conlon was generous, once giving his brand-new coat to a less-fortunate classmate and making sandwiches for a homeless man he saw on the street.
He was a schemer, organizing the boys in preschool to rob the girls' pizza parlor.

Daniel McGuire's Funeral ServiceArmy Pfc Paul Conlon's Funeral And he was definitely not quiet, his aunt, Victoria Baron, only four years his senior, told the hundreds who gathered at Christ the King Parish to honor Conlon yesterday.
That's why, instead of a moment of silence, he would want a round of applause, she said, as family, friends and community members filling the spacious sanctuary quickly took the cue.
Conlon, 21, a Mashpee High School graduate and a private first class in the U.S. Army, was killed in Afghanistan Aug. 15 when the military vehicle in which he was riding hit an improvised explosive device.
He was a dedicated soldier who always told others what he thought and always stopped to help his comrades, said Army Brig. Gen. Thomas Cole, the general assigned by the Army to attend the service.
Conlon was deployed to Afghanistan in February, and received a Purple Heart when he was wounded after a rocket-propelled grenade hit his vehicle. His first reaction was to say he was sorry for being hurt, because he knew his fellow soldiers needed him, said Cole. He did not personally know Conlon but asked family members and his unit about him.
You don't have to be giving orders to be a leader, Cole said. Paul was a great leader, even as a young soldier.
Other family members and another representative from the Army offered prayers. Msgr. Daniel Hoye spoke of the collection of poetry that Conlon published for his senior class project.
