I had the lovely opportunity to spend 7 nights out under the stars, catch 7 sunrises and sunsets, explore new hidden beaches, do some yoga, walk to new destinations and get completely sun burnt!

We hit many beautiful beaches in the far north, spotted a orca whale at Matai beach look out ????, enjoyed amazing food and beer and ended our trip back down in Paihia Bay of islands with a free community circus show to end it all off????
Karikari Peninsula is by far the most amazing place to be during summertime in New Zealand! There are numerous crystal clear beaches along the coast, one of them being taipa golden sands beach or Taupo Bay! I’d definitely suggest searching these places up on google if you are thinking of travelling near or around the Karikari area!
There is also many camping sites available for your stay????
On our way home we stopped into Paihia we’re we enjoyed a beautiful beach side snack on a wharf restaurant and were lucky enough to listen to a number of live bands while relaxing on our sofa beds✨
We then moved onto our next meal at CBK craft beer kitchen! The stone grill meals are out of this world! I had a lobster pot and steak!! Definitely have to try it out! Absolutely delicious!

Maitai Bay - One of New Zealand's Best Little Known Camping Spots

Tucked away at the end of Karikari Peninsula in New Zealand's far north lies a DOC campsite which doesn't take reservations.
Maitai Bay (or Matai Bay on Google maps) is stunning. White sand, inviting ocean water and sheltered bays - visiting is a delight.
But, it is every bit of a five hour drive from Auckland and to repeat myself - it doesn't take camp site reservations. But it's totally worth the risk of it being full (which it has been on both occasions we've visited).

Best UNKNOWN beach in New Zealand: Great Exhibition Bay
The Great Exhibition Bay is one of New Zealand's most beautiful remote beaches. The pure white silica sand is magical and so bright, that sun reflections hurt your eyes! It's located in the top of New Zealand. The area belongs to the Maori, therefore access is very limited so you need to book ahead a tour. We had the privilege to join Maori people on a tour through this amazing part of New Zealand!

Karikari Peninsula is renowned for its access to the best snapper fishing grounds in New Zealand with boat launching off the beach at Tokerau Beach, Perehipe Bay & Rangiputa. The area is also regarded as the gateway for Marlin fishing. The Peninsula is also home for many beautiful bays & beaches. Only a 30 minute drive to Kaitaia (Airport, Hospital, High School, shopping etc)
