Matang Wildlife Centre, part of Kubah National Park, houses endangered wildlife in large enclosed areas of rainforest or spacious cages. The main attraction is the orang utan adoption programme, where young orang utans, who were either orphaned or rescued from captivity, are taught how to survive in the wild. As well as orang utans, the centre includes spacious enclosures housing sambar deer, crocodiles, sun bears, civets and bear cats, and three large aviaries featuring hornbills, eagles, kites, storks and a host of other birds native to Sarawak.

Ben Fogle's Sarawak Adventures - Matang Wildlife Centre
Join adventurer and explorer Ben Fogle as he visits orangutans at the Matang Wildlife Centre in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. Matang is located close to Sarawak's capital city, Kuching, and is one of the most beautiful rainforest regions on the planet according to Ben. It is fascinating to watch Ben being taught how to look after young orangutans -- the Centre has a tiered system of teaching the orangutans the skills they need to live back in the wild, one day at a time. The Heart To Heart Foundation runs several different eco-tourism programmes which involve members of the public and our film shows Ben helping feed the orangutans. At the end of his visit, Ben receives his certificate and T-shirt for all his efforts. Visiting Matang is definitely a must do activity when visiting Sarawak. Sarawak offers unforgettable travel experiences. Visitors can see amazing wildlife, trek through the rainforest, swim and dive in crystal clear waters as well as enjoying superb local cuisine and accommodation.

Orangutans and the Matang Wildlife Centre
The Matang Wildlife Centre in Sarawak, Malaysia is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of orangutans. Their core belief is that every animal has the chance to be released back into the wild. On a recent visit to the centre, I got the chance to see and experience the day-to-day tasks required to care for the animals with their Heart2Heart With Orangutan volunteer program.

Matang Wildlife Centre is about 35km from Kuching.
It is a part of Kubah National Park, houses endangered wildlife in large enclosed areas of rainforest or spacious cages.
The main attraction is the orang utan adoption programme, where young orang utans, who were either orphaned or rescued from captivity, are taught how to survive in the wild. As well as orang utans, the centre includes spacious enclosures housing sambar deer, crocodiles, sun bears, civets and bear cats, and three large aviaries featuring hornbills, eagles, kites, storks and a host of other birds native to Sarawak.
This is a great tourist destination to enjoy the nature.

???? Semenggoh Wildlife Centre Kuching - Meet Orang Utan Ritchie
Semenggoh Wildlife Centre is located at Semenggoh, 13th mile Jalan Puncak Borneo, Kuching, Sarawak. It is around 40 minutes drive from the city centre.
It is a natural reserve with many different type of flora and fauna, including many rare bird species and the famous ground for Orang Utans.
The best time to visit Semenggoh is during the morning and afternoon feeding sessions when there is a good chance of seeing semi-wild orang utan returning to the Centre for a free meal.
Feeding takes place between 9.00-10.00am and between 3.00-3.30 pm.
Although there are many Orang Utan in the Reserve, but they don't come out everytime. Since they are semi-wild, you can't force them to appear. You will be in luck if Orang Utan came out for feeding at your first visit.
During this visit we are lucky to meet the dominant (alpha) male Orang Utan - Ritchie. Ritchie is the boss of the 26 orangutans living in the reserve.

Matang Wildlifer Center auf Borneo in Sarawak mach den Eindruck ein Zoo oder Tierpark zu sein. Es ist jedoch eine Auffang- und Rehabilitationsstation für gefundene Tiere, die krank sind, falsch gehalten wurden oder dort waren, wo sie nicht hingehörten.
Ein Teil der Tiere wird wieder ausgewildert, wenn dies möglich ist.
