Materuni Cultural Tour, Moshi, Tanzania
A day at Materuni Village in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro is a feast for all senses. Lush landscapes, a thundering waterfall, Chagga songs, a delicious local meal spiced with freshly brewed, hand-picked coffee and walks along banana and coffee fields leave you with everlasting impressions of everyday life around Kilimanjaro. The singers in the video help the coffee grinder to keep the right pace. Grinding coffee manually requires strength and endurance. Music helps to keep on going. One after another they take turns, so everyone of the family contributes to grinding freshly roasted coffee.
***

This is a hotspring with crystal clear water from underground. It is believed that the water comes all the way from Mt. Kilimanjaro through an underground channel. The pool is deep and only good swimmers get to enjoy well. Divers from the locality also entertain visitors with adrenaline drops from a hanging rope and others from the tree branches!

During our Tanzania trip we spent very interesting weekend in Materuni village located on the foothills of the Mt. Kilimanjaro. We had a chance to experience local Chagga people way of life and it was an experience indeed. Thank you English teachers for recommendation.

Kuringe Waterfall - near Moshi Tanzania
We took a little trip up to Materuni village and Kuringe Waterfall from Moshi. It's 70 metres high. Well worth the trek. Shame we didn't bring swimming gear!
Some asshole hacked my main ilesmark youtube account recently and deleted 100 of my videos. This isn't the first time this has happened to me and youtube appears powerless to stop it from happening to increasing numbers of people. Thus, rather than have all my vids in 1 acccount, I am going to have them in lots of small separate accounts, all beginning with the name ilesmark. That way, if the hacking occurs again the loss will be capped. Shame to have to do this, isn't it?
Marangu Falls Kinukamori
To Marangu and its famous Kinukamori waterfall leads
this day trip - close to the bustling little village, which is
located an 80 minutes drive away on the other side of
Moshi. A guide is there to tell and explain what is going on
with the stone woman and the history of Kinukamori
waterfall. After a tour through a small gallery where you
will hear something about the Chagga tribe you will
follow the steps down into the refreshing pool at the foot of
the Falls. Here you can swim or just cool your feet, even a
small hike is possible. Back at the visitor center, you can
have a refreshing drink or a meal in the small restaurant.
