It is truly amazing what someone can do from a simple life. We all can accomplish great things in life, even when we are in pain of something like severs arthritis.
Maud Lewis is proof positive that we need to look at people different from ourselves as differently abled rather then disabled.
People can accomplish amazing things if we look at their abilities rather than their setbacks.
As one of Canada's great artists Maud Lewis, was covered in a 1965 CBC documentary and is featured in their archives.
If your abilities and difficulties in life are different then those around you - please never give up. You also, like Maud Lewis can create beautiful things in life.

Maud Lewis Art Exhibit in Wolfville, NS
Maud Lewis: A World Without Shadows
Set against a background of her paintings and the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, landscapes they depict, this short documentary is a portrait of the life and work of one of Canada's foremost primitive painters, Maud Lewis. Emerging from her youth crippled with arthritis, Lewis escaped into her painting at the age of 30. She had never seen a work of art and had never attended an art class but her paintings captured the simple strength, beauty and happiness of the world she saw - a world without shadows.
FINDING MAUD LEWIS'S RESTING PLACE
This could us a few trips exploring the area since the directions found on a few different sites all had the grave location different.
From Digby take the 101 towards Yarmouth, in Barton (not a town, but a small area on the 101) take N Range Crossing RD (only one way to take this and that is by turning left off the 101). Drive approx. 5 KM and pass the Ridge Road intersection, the graveyard is on the right side about 30 seconds after that intersection. Not much to mark it, but there is a very small Maud Lewis sign.
Ethan Hawke, Sally Hawkins And Aisling Walsh Speak On Their Film Maudie
Maud, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. When she answers an ad for a housekeeper for the reclusive Everett, a local fish peddler, the two strike up an unlikely romance. Maud’s determination for her art, along with her partnership with Everett, blossoms into a career as a famous folk artist, bringing them closer together in ways they never imagined. Ethan Hawke, Sally Hawkins and Aisling Walsh pass by the BUILD studio to speak on their film, Maudie.
