Maui Kaanapali Hawaii / Visiting Maui Via Cruise Ship Off Shore
Kaanapali Maui in Hawaii is one of the most popular destinations in the Hawaiian Islands but it doesn't have a large port on that side of the island. Kaanapali Maui is located about 6 miles north of Lahaina and can be easily reached by Maui Bus.
Visiting Lahaina by Cruise Ship there are a lot of activities you can choose from, however if you have been to Maui before and have already been around the island and driven the road to Hana you might want to just stroll around Lahaina or visit the Kaanapali resorts.
I made this video because I wasn't sure how to get to Kaanapali without rented a car. I had to ask around and visit the courthouse visitors center near Lahaina's old Banyon tree to find out.
To catch the Maui bus To Kaanapali you walk past the Banyon tree park to the Warf shopping center. On the back side of the center is a covered parking garage where the Maui Bus stops. The bus fare during my visit was about $2.50 each way. The bus was very crowded because it is full of people staying in the Kaanapali resorts who are visiting Lahaina for the day as well. We had to stand on the bus going both ways so just expect it and it shouldn't be too much of a bother.
Maui has been voted the best island in the world by readers of a major travel magazine and it is easy to see why. While so many islands in the Caribbean and other places in the world seem so poor and shabby--which is their charm, Maui is noticeably upscale, pristine, and beautiful. The Kaanapali coast resorts offer their guests the best of everything. Personally, my idea of the perfect island destination has lots of palm trees for shade and tiki bars on the beach. Kaanapali has both.
This Video is an original work created from video and photos I took in Hawaii. The titles, graphics and special effects were created on my computer.

Maui Nui Botanical Gardens
Maui Nui Botanical Gardens.
Our collection is more than 30 years old and is the only botanical garden in the state located on a coastal dune system featuring native Hawaiian coastal and dry forest plants. Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is a non-profit organization working in partnership with the County of Maui, the Office of Economic Development, and the Maui Board of Water Supply.
Throughout the Gardens we have incorporated many xeriscaping (water conservation) techniques including drip irrigation systems and mulching. The plants located here are adapted to low rainfall and are becoming increasingly popular in local landscapes.
.Maui Nui Botanical Gardens supports many conservation efforts through the propagation of endangered species.

Kahea Naue 3-19-10.
Many across the State have major concerns about SHPD's operating procedures over the past several years. The destruction of sites and the desecration of Kupuna have
been increasing at an alarming rate. Under SHPD's mismanagement major bulldozing incidents have occurred at sites containing heiau, petroglyphs and springs. SHPD's pattern
of permitting the desecration of Kupuna has even extended to the breaching of Queen Kapiolani's family burial plot in Kawaiahao Church Cemetery on O'ahu.
It is time for us, Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians alike, to voice our concern. SHPD is the ONLY agency that addresses preservation and protection of Hawaiian sites and our Kupuna.
If the agency is not functioning appropriately, what little is left of our cultural connections to the past will be destroyed --- what we leave for the generations to follow will be paltry, at best.
The resolution has been heard in the House by Water, Land, Ocean resources Chair Rep. Ken Ito and Vice-Chair Rep. Sharon Har. The resolution needs to be passed out of their committee
and moved into the Legislative Management Committee chaired by Kaua'i Rep. Jimmy Tokioka and Vice-Chair Blake Oshiro.
