SeandeLion Vegetarian Cafe and Awa Bar in Honokaa, Hawai'i presented by Kava Dave of Hilo's Bayfront Kava Bar.

The last three years Kava Dave and Kava Dog Rufio have gone around the island in search of establishments serving up ancient Awa Root from the Awa Plant. The root is harvested and washed, ground up and then strained into a ceremonial drink called Kava or 'Awa.

For thousands of years Polynesians and people throughout the South Pacific have enjoyed this drink that tastes like the aina, yet makes you feel euphoric.

The following are the eight Kava Bars you may visit to sample a bit of ancient culture. Kava is also emerging as a successful alternative to alcohol in modern times. I am amazed at how pleasant a vibe the various Awa Bars have compared to establishments centered around alcohol.
