reading Omar Khayyam in Persian/Farsi at his tomb in Neyshabur, Iran
While visiting the tomb of Omar Khayyam in Neyshabur/Nishapur I asked a woman to read from my battered copy of The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám (رباعیات عمر خیام).
She opens the book on a random page and is struggling with some of the old Persian words

خیام نیشابور Mausoleum of Omar Khayyám
Omar Khayyam died on 4 December 1131. The earliest account of Omar's final resting place is provided by his pupil Nizami Aruzi who visited his tomb in 1135-6. In Balkh, in 1112-13, Nizami heard Omar make a prophecy about his place of burial, that his grave would be where flowers in the springtime would shed their petals over his dust.
Unfortunately during my recent visit in Jan 2018, I realized the poor minded people have destroyed the old description of this beautiful thumb of Khayyam just because it was mentioned the name of previous King ( Mohammadreza Shah Pahlavi) as the one who ordered the construction of this monument to appreciated his work and conserve the Persian cultural heritage.

Omar Khayyam
The Persian astronomer, mathematician, and poet Omar Khayyam (1048-ca. 1132) made important contributions to mathematics, but his chief claim to fame, at least in the last 100 years, has been as the author of a collection of quatrains, the Rubaiyat.

All human beings are members of one frame,

The Tomb of Saadi commonly known as Saadie , is a tomb and mausoleum dedicated to the Persian poet Saadi in the Iranian city of Shiraz. Saadi was buried at the end of his life at a Khanqah at the current location. In the 13th century a tomb built for Saadi by Shams al-Din Juvayni, the vizir of Abaqa Khan. In the 17th century, this tomb was destroyed. During the reign of Karim Khan was built a mausoleum of two floors of brick and plaster, flanked by two rooms. The current building was built between 1950 and 1952 to a design by the architect Mohsen Foroughi and is inspired by the Chehel Sotoun with a fusion of old and new architectural elements. For at least 2,000 years, the region once known as Persia has remained an important source of turquoise. This deposit, which is blue naturally, and turns green when heated due to dehyration, is restricted to a mine-riddled region in Nishapur, the 2,012-metre (6,601 ft) mountain peak of Ali-mersai, which is tens of kilometers from Mashhad, the capital of Khorasan province, Iran. A Reading by Pegah Ahmadi
Iranian poet Pegah Ahmadi was born in Tehran in 1974 and is known as a trail-blazing contemporary Iranian poet. Her already-published works were removed from circulation by the government, because of her critiques of the role of the Islamic religion in the history of cruelty to women and suppression of free expression in Iran. She was then banned from further publication and fired from her job. In 2009, following her involvement with the Green Movement demonstrations, she was threatened with imprisonment, and subsequently she left Iran with the assistance of the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN). She is now in residence at Brown University.
On May 5th, Pegah Ahmadi read at City of Asylum/Pittsburgh as a part of the event Exiled Voices of Iran

Written by:Omar KHAYYÁM (1048 - 1131), translated by Eben Francis THOMPSON ( - )
In 1906, Eben Francis Thompson, scholar and poet, published a limited edition of his translation of the Quatrains of Omar Khayyam. This edition contains 878 quatrains, and represents the most extensive translation of Omar's rubai in any language.
In the Introduction, Nathan Haskell Dole writes: Mr Thompson has put into English verse this whole body of Persian poetry. It is a marvel of close translation, accurate and satisfactory. He has succeeded in doing exactly what he set out to do - to add nothing and to take nothing away, but to put into the typical quatrain, as determined by Fitzgerald and others, exactly what Omar and his unknown imitators said. (Summary by Algy Pug)
This project was proof listened by Algy Pug and Bev J. Stevens.

Omar Khayyam (Persian: عمر خیام), (born 1048 AD, Neyshapur, Iran—1131 AD, Neyshapur, Iran), was a Persian polymath, mathematician, philosopher, astronomer, physician, and poet. He also wrote treatises on mechanics, geography, and music.
He has also become established as one of the major mathematicians and astronomers of the medieval period. Recognized as the author of the most important treatise on algebra before modern times as reflected in his Treatise on Demonstration of Problems of Algebra giving a geometric method for solving cubic equations by intersecting a hyperbola with a circle.
He also contributed to calendar reform and may have proposed a heliocentric theory well before Copernicus.
