Baghdad 90210 (part 1)
Imagine an Iraq where the mosques are replaced by malls, and the only thing keeping the teenagers up at night is too many frosted cappuccinos. This video, using a reappropriated script from an episode of Beverly Hills 90210, satirizes the impending Americanization of Iraq. Set in the future Baghdad, the adaptation is centered around a school election gone wrong - paralleling last year's Iraqi elections. Baghdad 90210 addresses cultural imperialism, and points out the absurdity of the United States imposing its ideals upon others. My goal for this video is to spark a discussion about the repercussions of neo-colonialism in the Middle East and beyond.

STORYLINE
Thousands of Iraqis took part in a funeral march on Tuesday to mourn the death of Sunni cleric Sheikh Hashim al-Kishali who was one of two clerics killed in Baqouba, on Monday.
Al-Kishali was shot by unidentified gunmen along with Sheikh Mahmoud in the town, which is 60 kilometres (35 miles) northeast of Baghdad.
On Tuesday a crowd of mourners carried al-Kishali's coffin to the local cemetery.
The mood amongst the mourners was angry, with many people chanting There is no god but Allah, as they walked.
One man said he held the Iraqi government responsible for the clerics' deaths and demanded those responsible face justice.
In Baghdad, a huge car bomb exploded outside a popular restaurant in the prosperous Mansour area on Monday night.
Hospital officials reported at least two people were killed and 17 were wounded.
Doctor Muhanad Jawad of Yarmouk Hospital said most of the victims were women.
Jawad said three people were treated for minor wounds, but that 14 others remained in hospital.
It was not immediately known how serious their injuries were.
Also in Baghdad, a mortar round hit a health institution on Tuesday, causing material damage but no serious casualties, eyewitnesses said.
Damage could be seen to the exterior of the Central Public Health Laboratories, with employees clearing up shattered glass inside.
Various equipment damaged by the explosion was also visible.
A plume of smoke could be seen rising from the the blast scene immediately after the attack.
In Baghdad's Dora neighbourhood two truck drivers delivering concrete blast walls from a factory in Iraqi Kurdistan were ambushed and killed on Tuesday.
The bodies of the two victims were taken to the morgue of al-Yarmouk teaching hospital.
Blast walls are used throughout Baghdad to secure government buildings, hotels, embassies and other potential targets from suicide bombers.
