On my fourth day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we explored Chichicastenango the most famous Maya market town in the country!

We started the day at 5:30am and drove three hours west to Chichicastenango. Are first stop in Chichicastenango was the arch of Gucumatz. This is the entrance to the city and also in the Maya religion to the under world!
We then walk through the whole city and I tried fresh orange juice, pupusas and home made ice cream. Everything was so good! From their we made are way to the Maya cemetery via the poultry market.
After exploring the maya cemetery we went all out shopping. I bought a ton of wood carved mask, Mariel bought some clothing and I bought a table runner for my wife.
We then visited Santo Tomas Church which is the most iconic spot in the city. It's famous because this church is a unified church between Catholicism and the Maya religion.
Next up we went to lunch at the Maya Inn hotel. He we tried some Culche and some Pepian de Pollo which is a traditional dish in Chichicastenango.
After exploring the whole town we drove back to Guatemala city and on the way we stopped at Iximche. This Maya archeological site is one of the most important because this is where the Spanish took country of the country.

Guide to visiting Flores & Tikal Guatemala (2019) Mayan Ruins
In this episode we stay on in the picturesque town of Flores in Guatemala and share with you our experience of visiting the Mayan site of Tikal.
Flores is a small and beautiful town located on and island in a lake. The island is easily accessible as it is connected to .the mainland by a bridge. We show you all the island. Flores is a meca for tourist arriving in Guatemala from Belize or as a final stop before heading to Belize and is the main place that tourists stay to visit the Mayan Ruins of Tikal.
We took a day tour to the Mayan Ruins of Tikal, which are located approximate one and a half hours drive from Flores. A site filled with mystery - make sure you have a guided tour as the guides are very knowledgable and without them you would be walking around the ruins and tikal without learning anything about the Mayan history or way of life - they're also great for spotting and pointing our wildlife on the way.
We recommend visiting Tikal early in the morning as by 11am the weather is very hot and nearly 40 degrees celsius. We left at 4.30am and there is a tour that leaves around 3am if you want to watch the sun rise over the ruins.
Thanks for watching

On the first day in Guatemala we stayed the entire day at the hotel and ate traditional and gourmet maya Guatemalan food! To start we visited the Market restaurant there we tried Kak Ik soup and we also tried a flank steak with white cheese and black bean mash.
I hit up the spa for an amazing Cacao massage which was amazing! It felt like I was being covered with Nutella and then cooked! Such a great experience which I highly recommend!
For dinner we visited their Picasso restaurant and the chef prepared for us a food and drink pairing. These dishes were more gourmet maya Guatemalan food. My favorite was the tuna with avocado with smoke! It was unreal!

Antigua Guatemala 2020 - Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala, Chichicastenango & Lake Atitlan.
This is our revisit to Antigua Guatemala 2020. We're starting the year off right in Antigua. We fly into La Aurora international airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala. We then take an Uber from Guatemala to Antigua Guatemala for the first leg of our trip. We then head to Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango and to the largest mercado in Central America. As well as visiting Lake Atitlan. Guatemala City to Antigua is a good start when first arriving in Guatemala and Guatemala City. We were just in Antigua Guatemala 2019 and loved it so much, we were planning how to get back ever since then.
We highly recommend Guatemala travel of course. And of course we recommend visiting Antigua Guatemala as well. Antigua Guatemala is absolutely beautiful. If you've seen my last videos from Guatemala, you'll know that this our favorite country and city in the world. While we haven't been everywhere, we've been enough places and countries to know. Guatemala 2020 is starting the year off right. And Antigua Guatemala travel is an awesome way to start the year.
This is my Antigua Guatemala travel vlog. I hope you'll enjoy my Antigua Guatemala vlog. We took an Antigua guatemala walking tour as soon as we arrived in Antigua. We visited the Casa del jade antigua guatemala and made a couple of purchases. Our hotel was Casa Encantada Antigua Guatemala. Please see the videos to see how absolutely beautiful it was. It also included breakfast from the terrace. The Antigua Guatemala walking tour was great, which we were allowed to meet the new Vice Mayor and visiting the jade museum. Antigua Guatemala nightlife is excellent; while shutting down early, it's absolutely beautiful. Lot's of bars, restaurants and live entertainment. Again, this is my Guatemala travel vlog; I hope you enjoy, like and subscribe. Remember, travel Guatemala.

Tikal in Guatemala Tour from Belize City or San Ignacio
Read on below or Book Tour here:
Tikal, city and ceremonial center of the ancient Maya civilization. The largest urban center in the southern Maya lowlands, it stood 19 miles (30 km) north of Lake Petén Itzá in what is now the northern part of the region of Petén, Guatemala, in a tropical rainforest. Uaxactún, a smaller Maya city, was located about 12 miles (20 km) to the north. The Tikal ruins are the central attraction of Tikal National Park, which was established in the 1950s and designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.
The single most talked about Mayan ruin in Central America is Tikal and it’s a pretty short trip from Belize to Guatemala. Pacz Tours offers safe, all-inclusive, one or two-day excursions to Tikal National Park as it is one of the top things to do in Belize.

Guatemala Adventure Travel
Guatemala Adventure Travel: Everyone who arrives at Guatemala leaves better, more complete. With an adventure that wasn't expected. That is why in Guatemala we would like to show you something more than lakes and volcanoes, more than Mayan cities and more than towns full of color.
Guatemala is still a developing nation, a young democracy with a turbulent and bloody history that's beset by deep-rooted inequalities. And yet, despite alarming levels of poverty and unemployment, most Guatemalans are extraordinarily courteous and helpful to travellers, and only too eager to help you catch the right bus or practise your Spanish.
It's this genuine and profound hospitality combined with the country's outstanding cultural legacy and astonishing natural beauty that makes Guatemala such a compelling place for travellers.
All this in your Guatemala Adventure Travel!
Take A Guatemala City Tour
Hi Adventurers....
Have you ever experienced walking down cobblestone streets of an old colonial town. Have you smelled the aroma of freshly cooked meals wafting through the air as you strolled by beautifully colored storefronts? Perhaps while walking you've come across an ancient ruin form hundreds of years ago? If so, then you understand what taking a city tour through Antigua, Guatemala is like. But if you haven't, then you're in luck. We've created our own city tour video for you to enjoy. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did creating it for you. Visiting Semuc Champey Guatemala | Caving (2019) Backpacking Central America
In this episode of our Backpacking Central America Series we arrive at the famous Semuc Champey in Guatemala and a short drive from the town of Lanquin.
Semuc Champey is famous for its blue natural pools, waterfalls and caves. For those feeling brave you can jump from the top of the waterfall or even the main bridge, however this is not suggested during dry season as the water levels are low.
As part of our trip we did the caving - a 1km walk & swim though pitch black caves, holding only a candle. We loved the caving but please be careful not to slip or fall from the ladders or rope climbs.
Semuc Champey means underground river in the Myan language and there is an underground river that flows under the blue natural pools. We loved this day our and would recommend this as a day trip if you are in Guatemala.
Due to the wet day - we were only able to bring our go-pro camera and apologise if some of the audio is a little quiet due to water being in the microphones.
We hope you have as much fun watching this episode at Semuc Champey as we had making it.
Thanks for watching

Guatemala City
Guatemala City, is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Guatemala and Central America. It had a population of 1,075,000 as of 2009. It is also the capital city of the local Municipio de Guatemala, and Guatemala Department.
Guatemala officially the Republic of Guatemala is a country in Central America bordered by Mexico to the north and west, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, Belize to the northeast, the Caribbean to the east, and Honduras and El Salvador to the southeast. Its area is 108,890 km2 (42,043 mi2) with an estimated population of 13,276,517.A representative democracy, its capital is Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción, also known as Guatemala City. Guatemala's abundance of biologically significant and unique ecosystems contributes to Mesoamerica's designation as a biodiversity hotspot. The former Mayan civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization, which continued throughout the Post-Classic period until the arrival of the Spanish. They had lived in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, the southern part of Mexico and eastern parts of El Salvador.Guatemala became independent from Spain in 1821. After independence it was ruled by a series of dictators, assisted by the United Fruit Company. From 1960 to 1996, Guatemala underwent a civil war fought between the government and leftist rebels. Following the war, Guatemala has witnessed both economic growth and successful democratic elections. In the most recent election, held in 2011, Otto Pérez Molina of the Patriotic Party won the presidency.
Guatemala lies between latitudes 13° and 18°N, and longitudes 88° and 93°W.
The country is mountainous with small desert and sand dune patches, hilly valleys, except for the south coastal area and the vast northern lowlands of Petén department. Two mountain chains enter Guatemala from west to east, dividing the country into three major regions: the highlands, where the mountains are located; the Pacific coast, south of the mountains; and the Petén region, north of the mountains. All major cities are located in the highlands and Pacific coast regions; by comparison, Petén is sparsely populated. These three regions vary in climate, elevation, and landscape, providing dramatic contrasts between hot, humid tropical lowlands and colder, drier highland peaks. Volcán Tajumulco, at 4,220 m, is the highest point in the Central American states.
The rivers are short and shallow in the Pacific drainage basin, larger and deeper in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico drainage basins, which include the Polochic and Dulce Rivers, which drain into Lake Izabal, the Motagua River, the Sarstún that forms the boundary with Belize, and the Usumacinta River, which forms the boundary between Petén and Chiapas, Mexico.
Guatemala has long claimed all or part of the territory of neighboring Belize, currently an independent Commonwealth Realm which recognises Queen Elizabeth II as its Head of State. Due to this territorial dispute, Guatemala recognized Belize's independence until 1990, but the dispute is not resolved. Negotiations are currently underway under the auspices of the Organization of American States and the Commonwealth of Nations to conclude it.

If you thought Guatemala was all Maya Guatemalan street food your wrong! There is a whole gourmet side to it and in this video I take you to two of the best restaurants in the country, Flor de Lis and
Flor de Lis is a restaurant by Chef Diego Telles that focus on food that is inspired by the Mayan bible called The Popol Vuh. Here we tried so many amazing dishes that were extremely earth focused. We tried a tamale that had volcanic ash, a taco that had frog legs and ants and so many more incredible dishes!
Ambia by Chef Sergio Diaz is a Guatemalan Fusion restaurant that has a forest open air theme. Each dish is a twist between Guatemala and neighboring nations and Europe. They also make some killer Maya cocktails that you can only find here! I tried a Peruvian inspired ceviche with two sea bass, each from a different ocean. I also tried a filet mignon with foie gras and so many more delicious dishes!
Next time you find yourself in Guatemala head out to both these insanely delicious restaurants and get blown away!
