garden. There is a series of ponds and lakes coupled with stone walls and features to temp the eye.

One of the world's largest cool climate gardens, Mayfield Garden is a spectacular living, evolving masterpiece. Located just outside of Oberon in the Blue Mountains, Australia, it opens to the public over 3 weekend in Autumn, and 3 weekends in Spring. Mayfield's 500 acres are filled with exciting, themed areas to explore and will leave you in awe of its breathtaking beauty and craftmanship.

Exploring Mayfield Gardens Oberon
Mayfield Gardens & Mt Wilson Day trip
Call us crazy but we decided to head to Mayfield Gardens in Oberon with a predicted high of 6 degrees.
Headed off around 7am from north western Sydney with a temp of 14 deg. We took the route through the Blue Mountains, approx. 2.5 hour trip. We watched the temp drop the closer we got. Arrived at the Gardens at 9.30am, with a cool 6 deg, layered up , donned the beanie and paid our $20 entry fee. The Gardens were spectacular, with autumn colours everywhere. Beautiful water flowing through the gardens, swans wandering around, waterfalls and quiet little places to explore. We spent about 2 hours here. With the right clothes on we were not cold.
We then headed, via Lithgow to Mount Wilson to check out the autumn colours. Very busy with people visiting Gardens, nice autumn colours. We only spent about an hour here. Off we went towards Kurrajong Heights where we stopped for a late lunch at Seasons Café, overlooking the valley. Good menu choices and great service.
Homeward bound, arrived back around 4pm.

The Water Garden was created and opened in 2014 which is a spectacular 6-acre stone and water feature garden and includes follies such as a bluestone bridge, red bridge, boardwalks a copper tree fountain, obelisk pond, and allée of London Plane trees. Mass plantings of Rhododendrons and Hydrangeas mingle with delicate water lilies and tall Birch trees to delight visitors.
As of Summer 2017, Mayfield Garden will increase to 36 acres that will include the Grotto, Valley of the Five Ponds, Venus Vale and The Gallery.
Adding to the experience is the Nursery with its extensive range of cool climate plants, & the Cafe & Produce Store serving seasonal, freshly prepared food from Mayfield Garden and local suppliers. Mayfield Garden, Cafe & Produce Store, and Nursery are all open 7 days a week *(closed Xmas & Boxing Day).

Mayfield Cafe proves a seasonal farm to table menu with fresh produce from Mayfield Kitchen Garden. The Kitchen Garden team and Mayfield Chefs work hard months in advance to plan what will be planted to ensure the fresh produce is ready for the menu to launch one or two seasons away. You will often see the chefs in the Kitchen Garden in a morning harvesting for the day.

2018 Autumn Festival
The 2018 Autumn Festival was a huge success. Guests loved exploring the 60 hectares of cool climate garden including Australia's second largest Box Hedge Maze and the Cascade & Temple.
