Residents Angry over Yarra City Council Bin Tax
Residents of the City of Yarra* have staged a protest rally to oppose the introduction of a bin tax. A majority of the Yarra councillors had voted in favour of the bin tax ( or levy ), in order to force residents to pay for the collection of their rubbish bins.The residents assumed this service would continued to be financed through the council rates they already pay.
The protest rally was held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, outside the Richmond Town Hall, shortly before City of Yarra councillors met with residents to hear submissions regarding the upcoming council budget.

34 family members arrested in drug bust; $400k in cocaine seized
ELYRIA, Ohio - Elyria Police, Lorain Police and the Lorain County Sheriff's Department arrested 34 people—all related to each other in some way—in connection with $400,000 of cocaine seized.
The investigation started last year and ramped up in the past two months, culminating in the arrests Friday, March 13 and Monday, March 16, investigators said during a press conference Wednesday.
Authorities seized 3.4 kilos of cocaine, worth $400,000, five guns and $85,000 in cash.
The leaders of what's been dubbed the Burns, Milton and Tillman Drug Trafficking Organization by authorities are Jarvis Burns, 33, of Sheffield Lake, who paid for the cocaine, and his cousin Travis Milton, 32, of Elyria, who orchestrated large-scale buys from two dealers in Cleveland.
The large-scale transactions were at Burns' and Milton's grandmother Grace Milton's home on Tattersal Court in Elyria.
They bought $43,000 of cocaine from Christopher Craig, 43 and Bernard Washington, 44, both of Cleveland, investigators said.

Demolition begins on New Hope Kmart building
When opportunity knocks in New Hope, it could sound something like heavy equipment tearing down steel beams and bricks of the old Kmart store.
The building right across from City Hall has been standing since 1971. The building also sits at the geographic center of the city, which means it's the perfect location for a long awaited city center.
This is a long sought after dream, said Director of Community Development Curtis Jacobsen. We want it to be more of a central gathering place in the city of New Hope for events and shopping.
While their are no definite plans for the lot, early development ideas for the mixed use space include apartments, senior housing, restaurants, entertainment and retail. Currently the city is interviewing developers and they are willing to take their time in finding the right one.
The hope is it would be a gathering space, that's what most city centers are, said Jacobsen.
The first bricks fell away from the building early Thursday morning on February seventh. Mayor Kathi Hemken got to take the first dig.
It was really cool, said Mayor Hemken, who got in the operators chair after 15 minutes of instruction. I put on my seatbelt, put on my hard hat, worked the levers and knocked the front of the buillding down.
The city says demolition should take two or three months. The parking lot will remain intact to use for summer activities including the weekly farmer's market.

Thousands of flies swarming Upper Darby Township community
Many neighbors in Upper Darby Township said they are seeing a lot of flies swarming into their backyards. From Lansdowne to Drexel Hill, Action News found homes with fly traps in the backyards. The Nightmare World of Gang Stalking
More than 10,000 people worldwide claim they're the victims of a vast organized surveillance effort designed to ruin their lives, a phenomenon known as gang stalking. Mental health experts see gang stalking as a symptom of paranoia, but the self-identified victims who insist what they're experiencing is real have come together online and in support groups to share their stories.
VICE met up with a handful of Americans who claim their lives have been derailed by gang stalking to understand what serious consequences the phenomenon presents. Then we hear from Dr. Josh Bazell, one of many physicians who believes the victims of gang stalking are experiencing dangerous delusions that could be treated by mental health professionals.
