Mayuranathaswamy Temple, Mayiladuthurai(மயூரநாதஸ்வாமி கோயில், மயிலாடுதுறை) or Mayuranathar Temple is a Hindu temple in the town of Mayiladuthurai (formerly known as Mayavaram or Mayuram) in the Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mayuranathaswamy, a form of Shiva, and has given its name to the town itself.

Vaitheeswaran Temple - Sirkazhi
Vaitheeswaran Temple is located 7 Kilo meters from Sirkazhi, Chidambaram, State of Tamilnadu, dedicated to Lord Shiva and God Mangala (Planet Mars). Vaitheeswaran Temple is one of the Navagraha (Nine planets) temples which is related to planet Mars (God Mangala). Devotees worship in this temple to relieve from the adverse effects of the planets in their life. Navagraha temples are the nine temples dedicated to Navagrahas (nine planets or nine celestial bodies). The Navagrahas are believed to be the transmitters of Universal, quintessential energy or power. The Navagrahas are closely associated with the fixed stars in the Zodiac.
Each Navagraha temples are located at different places in and around Kumbakonam sector. The Navagraha temples are considered to be the best destination to get rid of from the influence of planets. And most of these Navagraha temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Shiva is worshipped as the main deity.
Lord Shiva is the main deity of this temple who is worshipped as Lord Vaitheeswaran, the god of healing. The second precinct of this temple contains the shrine of Goddess Parvati (Goddess Shakti), the consort of Lord Shiva is worshipped as Goddess Thayyal Nayagi, who is said to bless the devotees with medicinal oil. And the other deities of this temple are Goddess Durga, Lord Subramanyar worshipped as Lord Muthukumara Swamy, Sun god Surya, Lord Nataraja, and Lord Somaskanda etc. Lord Vaitheeswaran (Lord Shiva) in this temple is said to be self-manifested.

Mayiladuthurai: Priests adorn idol with salwar kameez, sacked from service
At least two priests of the famous Mayuranathar temple in Mayiladuthurai were sacked from their services after they decorated the idol of the presiding deity in salwar kameez. It is usual practice in the temple to perform sandhana kaapu to the idol of Goddess Abayambigai and drape her in colour paper every Friday.
