ABOUT US (MADDIE & JORDAN)
In January 2018, we sold everything we owned in the US (except our husky Laska & what fit in our tiny, tangerine Prius C3) to travel the world—starting with Mexico. Since then, we've been making travel videos about our life in Mexico and the new experiences we encounter while traveling the world. If you'd like to join our shenanigans, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also poke around our social media to find out what we’re up to each week.

Shrazzi in Mazatlan Market Tour
Let me take you on a tour of two very popular markets in Mazatlan. The first is called Pino Suarez in the central/historic district. It's a large indoor market with many vendors selling fresh produce, meats and even clothing and souvenirs.
When you're looking for something a little more familiar, Mega Market might fit the bill. Right next to Sam's Club, Mega has lots of familiar offerings. They even have good coffee!
FRIED MEXICAN CHAYOTE
2 chayotes, thinly wedged
1/2 onion, thick slivers
1-2 garlic cloves, crushed
sea salt & pepper to taste
olive oil for frying
Fry seasoned chayote & onion in hot oil until it starts to blister. Add crushed garlic toward the end so it doesn't burn. Patiently wait for it to cool before eating!

El fenómeno Farm to Table llega a Mazatlán

RV from Mazatlan to Arizona
We left Tres Amigos RV park bright and early!! No issues the first day. The plan is drive from sun up until the sun starts to set. I don't normally like to drive at night but it is one safety note that others have stressed about being in Mexico; do not drive at night! There are not many RV parks along the way at all. When the sun starts to set we found a Pemex gas station and just boondocked. It was a horrible location but it served the purpose. It is great to have Kris along not just for the company but also for safety. I am really enjoying having someone to talk to and to share the long hours on the drive.
- I forgot to keep track of tolls on this trip. But don't forget that some of them are 'closed' so the system that charges you per axle doesn't work. The farmers who work the land just asking for donations.
- Mago Blanco my stray Mexican beach dog (spanish for White Wizard) loves being in the car with his head out the window! Jasper is being VERY aggressive and twice there has been blood when these two go at it. I don't know that I am going to be able to keep him. But don't have to worry about that until I get back to Canada.
- The first night being only about 8 hours north is noticeably colder than the Isla. Already trying to figure out how I can make this get a way an annual thing. I don't think I will be able to spend a winter in Canada!!!

Your Real Estate Guide visits Stone Island, in Mazatlan.
The Stone Island. A peninsula that can be accessed by car and boat, and offers visitors a good variety of seafood restaurants and activities to spend a good time, such as swimming, horseback riding, cart, camping, kayaking and bike or motorcycle and, of course, relax by the sea with a Pacific beer in your hand.

Now, who are the Real Estate Guides?
We represent a group of real estate professionals from 21 cities throughout
Mexico. Our associates include attorneys, notarios, accountants, architects
and escrow companies.
We are uniquely qualified to professionally guide you through the process of
choosing the city or area in Mexico that compliments your lifestyle, qualifying
the construction, and processing the purchase and closing documents.
Our success is reflected in our fiduciary responsibility to our clients, attention
to detail and personal service.
Warren Buffet famously said: “I won the lottery when I was born is the US.”
He was certainly right!
Rex and Ricardo Say: “ If you are fortunate to find your way to Mexico as a
Final Destination…you just won the Powerball Lottery. You can decide the
veracity for yourself but it’s becoming common knowledge south of the border.
We all end up in Mexico for different reasons. I came to Mazatlan (2003) after
years of vacationing in PV. How refreshing, a true Mexican City with miles of
beaches and a laid back Expat community….Amazing….and I never looked back.
After graduating from the University of Washington, I spent 20 years in
construction as a union carpenter and building custom and spec homes as a
general contractor. After my 3rd knee surgery, I ventured into the real estate
industry and received a great education via Windermere R.E. Olympia Wn.
I was a licensed real estate agent in Washington State from 1995-2013 and
was co-owner of a start-up brokerage from 2002-2008, so venturing into the
Mexico real estate market was a natural process for me. I bought a condo in
2006 and within a couple of years I was coming to Mazatlan 5-6 times a year
and spending6 months in Mexico.
Life is Short if you’re lucky, very short if you’re not so lucky. So when the Great
Recession of 2008 devastated the US economy……..it was time for me to turn
in that lotto ticket and become a fulltime resident in Mexico.
I have been a licensed broker in Mazatlan, a member of the MLS (AMPI) and
Realtor Association since 2009. After four years of referral business in
Washington state, I retired my license in August, 2013.
My associate and director of MRG, Ricardo Angulo, was born in Mexico over 4
decades ago. He came to Mazatlan in 2000 for family business and fell in love
with the city. Soon thereafter becoming a full time Mazatleco. In 2006 he
began his career in real estate. Ricardo is bi-lingual, well versed in the
evolution of Mexico and has been a member of AMPI (MLS) and Realtor
Association since 2008. He is familiar with the legal channels in Mexico and
committed to continuous learning and updating, taking real estate courses
every year as laws and local destinations are changing rapidly. Recently, he
was honored as the moderator on the annual AMPI real estate course.
Ricardo loves the Mexican culture, the history of real estate and the
geographical diversity throughout Mexico. He is enthusiastic about sharing
his knowledge, contacts and experiences.
We have incorporated US standards into our documentation and fiduciary
responsibilities. We also work directly with our associates and affiliates in the
MLS (AMPI) who continue to provide leadership by example………..we are so
fortunate!

Carnival Splendor Cruise Vlog Day 4 Mazatlan - Mexican Riviera
Check out this Day 4 Vlog of our Carnival Cruise on board the Carnival Splendor. While cruising the Mexican Riviera we visited the port of call Mazatlan Mexico. We decided to venture off into historic Mazatlan on our own. In this vlog, we will follow the blue line into the historic area, visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Mazatlan Cathedral), walk through a local market and venture off to the Pacific Ocean. Mazatlan is full of hotels, beaches and amazing culture. We felt safe in the tourist areas that we visited.
Our 7 day trip to the Mexican Riviera embarking from Long Beach California USA visits the ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. The Carnival Splendor is a great family friendly ship that features several pools, hot tubs, a water slide and more. It can hold 3012 passengers and is 952 feet long. Come along for the ride and I hope that you enjoy this vlog.
