The Beer Show - Review (quickie): St-Ambroise Rousse by McAuslan Brewing
Episode 17: Now own By Brasseurs RJ (they're everywhere), on today's episode of The Beer Show I am drinking a relativelly new product on the market, the St-Ambroise Rousse from McAuslan Brewing, A nice 5 % ABV red ale with a good caramel flavour, a hint of sweetness and a well balanced hoppy taste.
For more episodes of The Beer Show:
What other people said about that beer:
Poured a clear medium amber color ale with a medium size off-white head with good retention with light lacing. Aroma of light caramelized malt with some good cereal notes. Taste is also dominated by lightly caramelized malt with some cereal notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nothing to write home about but good session amber ale with limited hops presence.
Amber body with average carbonation and a fair rusty foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar and cinnamon hints. Taste carries some woody, fruity, and spicy notes. Ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Not bad, but rather ordinary.
App.: Clear deep copper with a decent orange-tan head. Aroma: Strong Ringwood character -- buttery, butterscotch, some caramel/toffee notes, slightly metallic, fruitiness, bread crust, quite malty, as expected. Palate: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Flav.: Much like the nose, a fairly malt-forward, Ringwood-influenced brew, maybe a little cardboard?; dry with minimal bitterness and a dry malt, and light butterscotch finish. Forgettable. I figure they created this to tap into the rousse thing in QC.
Pours a medium red with a small - well, almost absent - head that leaves some really light lacing. Aroma is of caramel and light toasted malt, pretty boring and simple. Taste is of caramel and a little butterscotch, lightly fruity. Body was medium, carbonation too. Pretty average... bah.
Pours amber with medium beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is of malt, caramel, earthy hops. Taste is of malt, bitterness, metal, earthy/dusty hops, very slight acidity. Some fruits. Palate: Medium body. Soft to medium carbonation. Overall: Malty, caramelish. All in all, decent.
Stay tune for more episodes in the days to come, we will do a little blitz of uploads to celebrate the Mondial de la bière here in Montréal from June 11th to the 15th.
ABOUT THE MONDIAL DE LA BIERE: Three beer lovers that included Jeannine Marois, president of the event since 2002, founded the Mondial de la bière in Montréal in 1994. A unique and friendly tasting event, it is considered a doorway to the brewing industry in Quebec and around the world. Must Have Food In Montreal, Canada
We love finding great unique foods while we travel and whoa did Montreal deliver. From the bagels to the smoked meat sandwiches, this city had some amazing food. Most of our tasting tour was focused in the Mile End and Plateau neighborhoods but we also made it over to the Lachine Canal to boat down to a brewery to try some local beer.
