Indian Petroglyphs | McConkie Ranch Knobby Knee Trail | Vernal Utah
We went to see Native American Petroglyphs at McConkie Ranch near Vernal, Utah. On the Knobby Knee Trail, we saw drawings of the ancient Native Americans carved into the rock. We got to see a wide variety of the glyphs, from suns, moons, and shields to full size ancient warriors.
The glyphs were amazing and showed Native American history in Utah. Near Dinosaur National Monument, the petroglyphs are attributed to the Fremont Native American Tribe.
Favorite Petroglyph Panels in Northeast Utah - Near Vernal, Utah
There are a number of impressive petroglyph panels in the area around Vernal in northeast Utah. Some of my favorite panels are in two locations in Dinosaur National Monument.
A third favorite area is on the Sadie McConkie Ranch in Dry Fork Canyon. This is one of the most impressive and extensive petroglyphs sites I've seen so far in my travels. Although the ranch is private land, the owners have made the site accessible to the public, only asking that visitors obey all signs (I'll suggest that you make a donation at the site to help keep it maintained and accessible).

Moonshine Arch Vernal Utah
Filmed at Moonshine Arch near Vernal Utah. Flight Sights explores a unique natural rock arch. Located near Dinosaur National Monument, this arch is on BLM land and is a popular hike. Bring water with you if you go as the hike has moderate elevation gain and is in the desert. Early morning or late evening hikes are best. Always go prepared.
Be sure to visit Dinosaur National Monument while in the area. Well worth a trip.
Red Fleet BLM area - Vernal Utah
Most dramatic camp to date, fire, explosions, bike, booze and live music... Even made fun of the youtube nomad community's favorite alcoholic delinquent a little.
Living dangerously :) LOL
I can not recommend this camp or give coordinates even though it was an awesome place to spend 11 nights.... You can find it if you want but it's in a danger... explosions, shrapnel... blah blah blah zone.
BLM/reclaimation land and the state park are clearly marked on the map on Donkey Flats Rd, no camping in the state park except at the (pay?) campground.
Cool kids do it so: Tag thingies?:

ATS: Utah DLC: Salt Lake City to Vernal
I continue exploration of SCS's new Utah DLC by taking a drive from Salt Lake City in north central Utah to Vernal in north east Utah.
The load is a Wheel Loader tractor, picked up at the Avalanche scrap metals site in Salt Lake City. It is a short drive to the I-80 and the driver takes it east. He then drives it to the short merge with the I-15 (close by downtown SLC), and follows it east as it splits from the I-15.
As the I-80 leaves SLC, it climbs up a valley into the Wasatch Range, reaching the top at Summit Park. The driver exits right onto US-40 / US-189. It goes south past Park City and Deer Valley without a hint they are there (unless you count the sign Jordanelle State Park). At Heber City the 189 splits towards Provo, but the driver continues on US-40 towards Duchesne and Vernal.
The driver refills in Heber City, as dawn breaks. US-40 goes into the Strawberry River catchment, and crosses an arm of the Strawberry Reservoir. Here the driver stops off at a viewing point for a quick look. There is a bit of a climb to Duchesne, where US-40 joins US-191. At another small town, the route turns off towards Pelican Lake.
In some hills the route goes onto dirt roads and reaches the destination Chevron facility. Parking is tricky, but is eventually accomplished. He gets $12890 and 491 XP for the job.
This is using ATS version 1.36.1.3s. I am using the mods (in the order):
* Minimal adviser interface for ATS & ETS2;
* Top Corner Mirrors for ATS & ETS2;
* Real Advertisements;

Dugout Ranch
Rancher Heidi Redd has been running cattle on the Dugout Ranch, in the heart of Utah's canyonlands, for more than 40 years. In 1997, the Conservancy purchased the Dugout's lands in a deal that kept Heidi running the ranch. Today, Heidi is again partnering with the Conservancy to launch the Canyonlands Research Center to develop sustainable ways to manage grasslands in the face of climate change. Learn more at

Bigfoot Sightings - Across America
Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, is a large human or ape-like creature that wanders the woods of North America, especially in the Pacific Northwest. Does Bigfoot actually exist? Well, there have been a number of reported sightings and probably just as many hoaxes and cases of mistaken identity.
While living in the Pacific Northwest I've tried my hand at finding Bigfoot. And I've met with some success.
The Photos (in order)
P13A0166 - I found this Bigfoot at the North Fork Survivors Gift Shop, along the road to Mt. St. Helens in Kid Valley, Washington
P14A0031 - This Bigfoot was hanging around outside the Camp 18 Restaurant in Elsie, Oregon
P14A0051 - This Bigfoot is apparently in the restaurant business, luring people in to Bigfoot's Steakhouse in Seaside, Oregon
P14A0369 - I found a number of Bigfoot creatures in North Bonneville, Washington, including this family of Bigfoots that kindly posed for this photo
P14A0370 - Here's a young Bigfoot, hanging around in this North Bonneville tree
W12A0176 - Spokane, Washington's Bigfoot Pub & Eatery features a Bigfoot sign; singer Madonna made her major motion picture debut here as a bar singer in the 1984 movie Vision Quest; she sang Crazy for You and Gambler
U11A0667 - A different take here; Big Foot is captured in an impressive petroglyph along the main petroglyph trail at McConkie Ranch near Maeser, Utah
S11A0610 - The Ranchita Store in Ranchita, California features this creature; don't be confused by its big feet; it's actually a yeti
Early Native American petroglyphs outside of Salt Lake City, Utah
This is a short video of some petroglyphs outside of Salt Lake City. These are on private land and unfortunately due to vandalism of the petroglyphs as well as vandalism to his land, the owner of the ranch has had to stop allowing the general public access to view these petroglyphs. The only legal way to view these is to be a personal friend of the ranch owner and to get permission to enter his ranch land. Perhaps some day something can be done to open these back up to the public but it might take something like an offer from the National or State Park Service to purchase a portion of the land and to install fencing that would protect the rest of the ranch from trespassers.
