Homeowners assess Florence flooding
(15 Sep 2018) Residents of Jacksonville, North Carolina stood in knee-deep water as they surveyed flooding from Florence, which is now a tropical storm.
Rain continued to pour down Saturday as Anthony Ferreiro walked around his home.
Water had not yet reached the inside, but Ferreiro said the water only need to rise a few more inches to get there.
Nearby, Jim Barton walked into the garage of his home where he had placed items to keep them from blowing away during the storm.
Propane tanks and flower pots floated in high water.
Anything with a motor, tools, what didn't get saturated woodwise. It's not looking good right now. Lot of stuff that can't get wet that is. Exercise equipment. It's all toast, said Barton.

A 17-year-old student in Alabama was arrested last week for allegedly plotting to use dozens of homemade grenades to kill at least fellow six students and a teacher at Russell County High School.

On Sunday, June 11, 2017, Equality Shoals organized a sister march to the national Equality March for Unity and Pride in Florence, Alabama. This march marked the first-ever LGBTQ+ march or parade in Northwest Alabama, and was likely the largest civil rights march in the history of the Northwest Alabama.
