Driving on the McGee Creek Road, Mammoth Lakes, California Fall Colors
371-The Story About the McGee Creek Lodge and McGee Campground Lakes
McGee Creek Lodge is old California at its best.
Nestled at the foot of the vast Sierra wilderness, McGee Creek Lodge was the original lodge for the first ski slope in the Mammoth Lakes area.
The lodge is now restored to its former glory as a destination once coveted by early Hollywood stars and patrons.
The lodge features 8 lodge style rooms and fine dining.
The lodge started with this single cabin in 1929 and still stands today.
370-McGee Creek RV Park & Campground
Hello everyone, RVer Frank here with Kathee and Coco, and we are going off the beaten path to McGee Creek RV Park & Campground, south of Mammoth Lakes, Ca.
So come along, join us, and enjoy the ride.
The eastern Sierras are known for exceptional trout fishing. McGee Creek and nearby Crowley Lake have some of the best fishing in the area. The area's interesting geology also makes it popular for rock hounding and offers extensive hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails to explore the magnificent John Muir Wilderness, which stretches for a 100 miles along the crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains with snow-capped mountains, deep canyons and vast expanses of glacially-carved terrain.
Popular Local events include, Bishop Mule Days that are held over Memorial Day weekend, and the Mammoth Jazz Jubilee that is hosted in Mammoth in mid-July.
McGee Creek RV Park and Campground is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Mono County, California, at an altitude of 6,800 feet.
The McGee Creek RV Park & Campground is open from the Last Week of April to the First Week of October. They have RV sites and tent camping with and without hook ups. Hot Water Showers, guests can fish from their Privately Owned Ponds for a fee and no License required, or Walk in and fish McGee Creek, with a License, pets are welcome and they have Fire Wood for $6.00 a bundle.
They do not offer WiFi, but is available at the McGee Creek Lodge coffee shop across the street. I have been told if you have Verizon you can get internet but you can forget it if you have ATT or T-mobile.
The National Park McGee Campground is up the road straight ahead several miles, and to the left is the McGee Creek RV Park & Campground so they should not be confused with each other.

Mammoth Lakes California Fall 2018
Mammoth Lakes road trip in California using DJI Spark.
Beautiful Fall Colors, Mammoth Lakes
This video is recorded on my GoPro Hero 7; the stabilization in this camera is amazing! Visited Mammoth September 28 and 29, 2019 in search of fall colors! Colors are starting to change at Crowley Lake, which you can hike around! The second place in this video is Sagehen summit, which had many fall colors! Next stop is Mono Lake! Then McGee Creek, which also had some fall colors starting to appear! The landscape is so beautiful there! It snowed 9/28/19 in the night so we woke up to some fresh snow, which made for beautiful pictures the next day at Devil's Postpile and Rainbow Falls.

Places to see in ( Mammoth Lakes - USA )
Mammoth Lakes is a town in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. It's known for the Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain ski areas and nearby trails. The town is a base for Devils Postpile National Monument, a formation of basalt columns, and the soaring Rainbow Falls. To the north, saltwater Mono Lake is dotted with limestone towers. Yosemite National Park, with its granite cliffs and ancient sequoias, is nearby.
Mammoth Lakes lies on the edge of the Long Valley Caldera. The area around the town is geologically active, with hot springs and rhyolite domes that are less than 1000 years old. Visitors can take State Route 203 from the town of Mammoth Lakes to the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, over Minaret Summit, then down to Devils Postpile National Monument, with access to the Ansel Adams Wilderness.
The area has natural hot springs which are sometimes used after skiing. Other features include lakes, a soda springs, and an obsidian dome. Mammoth Lakes is north of the Owens Valley, a scenic area with extensive hiking opportunities. The town is surrounded by mountains: on the west, Mammoth Mountain looms over the town, while to the south, the Sherwin Range dominates the view. This hilly terrain and the high altitude makes the area great for high-altitude athletic training, including among elite long-distance runners, who live and train in the thin air.
The town is surrounded by acres of forest and is bordered by the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness Areas. The eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park is located 32 miles (51 km) north of town. The town is situated in the southwestern, mountainous part of Mono County, California.
