Garnacha Unveiled; From Carinena to the World
Source:
Welcome to episode 96 of Dracaena Wines Podcast! Today I have another Master Class for you. I attended VinExpo in New York City in early March and registered for the Garnacha Enveiled; From Carinena to the World hosted by Master of Wine Pedro Ballesteros.
It was an interesting class in that instead of focusing on a single region, it truly focused on the grape variety itself. Where and how it grows, the soils it likes and provided us with the opportunity to taste different Garnachas from around the world.
Sadly, the audio is the not best. It was recorded in a room that was only sectioned off from the expo with curtains. I did my best to help it along, but I am not a master mixer – (I’m not even sure that is the correct terminology!) but I hope you stick with it, because Pedro was full of intriguing Garnacha information.
Interesting in finding out more about Garnacha? Follow @VinosCarinena on social media and head to their website wineregiontowatch.com.

Check Out the NEW 2020 Corvette Stingray! | FIRST LOOK
The brand new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is finally here! For the C8 generation the car has a major shift to becoming a mid-engined supercar. Join me at the world premier to see the new Corvette revealed in person and up close for the first time!
After 7 generations over 66 years and 1.7 million cars produced with an engine in front, the the C8, the new Corvette has gone mid engined. Heavy focus has still been placed on keeping the car usable, practical and daily driveable while upping the sports characteristics and dynamic capability.
In the back is a 6.2l naturally aspirated V8 making 502hp (495bhp) and 637nm (470ft-lb) that means the new Stingray can gallop to 60mph in under 3 seconds! The engine is mated to a new 8 speed dual clutch gearbox from Tremec but to purists dismay no manual option is available from new. A new Z mode is added to allow even more customisation of driving settings and modes too.
On the inside is a very driver focused setup up, with a 12 digital dashboard and an infotainment system free from clutter. However there's a central console spine housing many of the controls which might not be particularly intuitive and also impeding the passenger space - this car is clearly for the driver! In terms of luggage space, there are trunks front and rear, the latter being large enough to house two sets of golf clubs behind the engine itself.
Join me now in California to see the car presented to the world for the very first time!
Thanks for watching, Tim

Rolls-Royce Sweptail $13 million - World's Most Expensive Car!
Rolls-Royce debuts its stunning $13 million Sweptail coachbuild
Sweptail is a highly bespoke motor car created by Rolls-Royce to fulfill the dreams of a single customer. Unveiled at Villa d’Este for Concorso d’Eleganza, it evokes the drama of the swept-tail Rolls-Royces from the 1920s.
When, approximately one year ago, Rolls-Royce presented 103EX to the world, it invoked its coachbuilding heritage to inspire its future clientele. This Vision Vehicle envisaged a world of completely personal luxury mobility where new technologies would allow every Rolls-Royce to be designed in their owners’ image, should they wish. Such a Rolls-Royce would represent the truest meaning of luxury – a personal, Bespoke motor car like no other for each individual commissioning patron.
The owner of this car, who doesn’t wish to be named, has deep pockets. Very deep pockets, since the special Rolls is rumored to cost around $13 million. The unnamed gentleman came to Rolls-Royce to realize his vision of a one-off luxury motor car that would evoke the beauty of coachbuilt Rolls-Royces of the 1920s and 1930s. He asked for a two-seat coupé featuring a large panoramic glass roof.
That motor car is here, now and is christened ‘Sweptail’.
Presenting the car to the media at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este on Saturday 27th May 2017, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, “Sweptail is a truly magnificent car. It exudes the romance of travel for its own sake, and immediately places ‘Sweptail’ in the pantheon of the world’s great intercontinental tourers. Rolls-Royce’s history as the world’s leading coachbuilder is at the very core of its identity as the world’s leading luxury brand. The arrival of 103EX shone a light on the future of Rolls-Royce in this field, and ‘Sweptail’ is proof, today, that Rolls-Royce is at the pinnacle of coachbuilding. We are listening carefully to our most special customers and assessing their interest in investing in similar, completely exclusive coachbuilt masterpieces. At the same time we are looking into the resources which will allow us to offer this unique service to these discerning patrons of luxury.”
‘Sweptail’ – how the vision became the reality
“Sweptail is the automotive equivalent of Haute Couture,” comments Giles Taylor, Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “It is a Rolls-Royce designed and hand-tailored to fit a specific customer. This customer came to the House of Rolls-Royce with an idea, shared in the creative process where we advised him on his cloth, and then we tailored that cloth to him. You might say we cut the cloth for the suit of clothes that he will be judged by.”
It took a number of years for Taylor and his team of designers to bring this vision to life. “Our job was to guide, edit and finely hone the lines that would ultimately give our client this most perfect of Rolls-Royces,” says Taylor.

Gordon Banks
Gordon Banks, OBE (born 30 December 1937) is a former England international football goalkeeper. He made 628 appearances during a 15 year career in the Football League, and won 73 caps for his country. The IFFHS named Banks the second best goalkeeper of the 20th century – after Lev Yashin (1st) and ahead of Dino Zoff (3rd). He was named FWA Footballer of the Year in 1972, and was named FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year on six occasions.
He joined Chesterfield in March 1953, and played for the youth team in the 1956 FA Youth Cup final. He made his first team debut in November 1958, and was sold to Leicester City for £7,000 in July 1959. He played in four cup finals for the club, as they were beaten in the 1961 and 1963 FA Cup finals, before winning the League Cup in 1964 and finishing as finalists in 1965. During this time he established himself as England's number one goalkeeper, and played every game of the nation's 1966 World Cup victory. Despite this success, he was dropped by Leicester and sold on to Stoke City for £50,000 in April 1967. He made one of the game's great saves to prevent a Pelé goal in the 1970 World Cup, but was absent due to illness as England were beaten by West Germany at the quarter-final stage.

2020 Chevy Corvette C8 Reveal Video Review
The reveal for the all-new Corvette C8 took place in Orange County California with the big news being a change from the past front-engine design to a new mid-engine design. So far, we know there will be 2 different trims: the base level Stingray, and a Z51 Performance Package. The Performance Package adds a lot of track day inspired parts including: wider wheels, bigger brakes, LSD, performance suspension, and upgraded aerodynamics.
The LT2 6.2 liter V-8 engine on the Stingray is packing 490 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired exclusively to an 8-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission.
The biggest surprise of all is the price with the base model starting under $60,000 when it arrives at dealers later this year.
