Travel Planner -
Meaford's biggest claim to fame is scarecrows. Thousands of people attend the Scarecrow Invasion's Friday evening Parade & Family Festival in Market Square. Children and adults love to dress up as scarecrows. As an added attraction, many carry stuffed and manufactured varieties of the cute figures during Friday evening's festivities. Weekend activities include harvests dinners, special scarecrow exhibits and contests, pancake breakfasts, a hay maze obstacle course, apple-peeling contest and entertainment for the entire family. Both Scarecrow Invasion and the popular Apple Harvest Craft show are held annual over the first weekend in October. Scarecrows are usually kept on display until after Thanksgiving weekend.

Riverdale Farm - Toronto
How many large cities have a fully functioning farm right in their downtown and to top it off, it's FREE? Riverdale Farm is a great place for both children and adults. It's located on the east side of downtown Toronto, in one of the most charming neighbourhoods, Cabbagetown. Yes, the farm is called Riverdale Farm but it's located in Cabbagetown, not Riverdale, which is on the east side of the Don River.
Cabbagetown is a charming neighbourhood with beautiful, historic homes. If you come to Toronto, you've got to check it out. Also there is a great historic cemetery, right beside the farm/park, which you should also check out. Shopping and restaurants/bars are close by too, on Parliament Street, just a 5 minute walk west.
There are lots of charming things to take pics of in Cabbagetown. Chinatown East is just across the river too, if you're in the mood for Chinese food. I'm always in the mood for Chinese food! lol
And for those who love farms, Centre Island also has a free farm with animals running around but it's smaller then the one here.
