The German city of Schwerin is the administrative center of Mecklenburg — Vorpommern. It is surrounded by a system of lakes, the largest of which is the Schwerin lake.
Since the second half of the twelfth century to the mid seventeenth century, Schwerin served as a dwelling for the Bishop and the present spiritual center of the entire region.
In the mid-fourteenth century, the town was inherited by the Duke of Mecklenburg Albrecht Second. Since the city had the right to be the residence of such honorary title, the Earl settled in his castle, and Schwerin remained a residence of the house of the Dukes of Mecklenburg (with two small breaks) up to one thousand nine hundred and eighteenth centuries. Left his residence of the Dukes twice. For the first time in the first half of the seventeenth century for the Union with Denmark, and the second time in the second half of the eighteenth century to the middle of the nineteenth century, until their residence was in the city of Ludwigslust. In the sixteenth century the city was often called the Northern Florence.
The city fascinates its guests plenty of attractions. The most significant of these is the symbol of the city, Schwerin castle, which is very often compared to Neuschwanstein, located in Bavaria, and even called the Neuschwanstein of the North. Currently there is a Conservatory and a Museum, and from all sides the castle is surrounded by a picturesque Park. Near the castle is the Mecklenburg state theatre, the building is designed in neo-Baroque style. Special attention guests deserve Schwerin's Market square with a town hall, gabled houses and the bronze lion is a symbol of Henry the Lion – the founder of the city.

Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany - home to one of the oldest universities in the world
Rostock is the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Rostock is on the Warnow river; the district of Warnemünde 12 kilometres north of the city centre is directly on the Baltic Sea coast.
Rostock is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, the University of Rostock, founded in 1419.
The city territory of Rostock stretches for about 20 km along the Warnow to the Baltic Sea. The largest built-up area of Rostock is on the western side of the river. The eastern part of its territory is dominated by industrial estates and the forested Rostock Heath. Rostock is considered as the only regiopolis in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
One of the most picturesque places in Rostock is the Neuer Markt, with the Town Hall - that was originally built in the 13th century in Brick Gothic style, but extensively transformed in the 18th century, with the addition of a Baroque façade and a banqueting hall. The square also preserved six original, carefully restored gable houses from the 15th and 16th centuries. The other historical houses in Hanseatic style that once bordered the square were destroyed in an Allied air-raid in 1942, and rebuilt in a simplified manner.
The 15th-century Kerkhofhaus is considered the best preserved brick Gothic house in Rostock.
St. Mary's Church Marienkirche, on Ziegenmarkt, is an imposing Brick Gothic church. Built in the 13th century, it was enlarged and modified at the end of the 14th century into the present cross-shaped basilica. The huge tower was not completed until the end of the 18th century.
Kröpeliner Straße - main shopping street
The main pedestrian precinct is Kröpeliner Straße, that runs east from the Neuer Markt to the 14th-century Kröpeliner Tor, a former town gate. The main buildings of Rostock University lie at Universitätsplatz, near the middle of the street, in front of the lively fountain of zest for life.
The Kloster St Katharinen, an old Franciscan monastery founded in 1243, and extended several times during the 14th and 15th centuries. Now used as the seat of the Academy of Music and Theatre.
The Brick Gothic Nikolaikirche, which is the oldest church in Rostock, built in mid-13th century. Heavily damaged during World War II and subsequently restored, the building is now used as an exhibition centre and concert hall, due to its outstanding acoustics.
Some parts of the medieval city wall, with four city gates, have survived to the present day.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern [ˈmeːklənbʊʁk ˈfoːɐ̯pɔmɐn] (also known as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in English, nicknamed MeckPomm or MV) is a federated state in northern Germany. The capital city is Schwerin. The state was formed through the merger of the historic regions of Mecklenburg and Vorpommern after World War II, dissolved in 1952 and recreated prior to the German reunification in 1990.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the sixth largest German state by area, and the least densely populated. The coastline of the Baltic Sea, including islands such as Rügen and Usedom, as well as the Mecklenburg Lake District, feature many holiday resorts and unspoilt nature, making Mecklenburg-Vorpommern one of Germany's leading tourist destinations. Three of Germany's fourteen national parks are in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in addition to several hundred nature conservation areas.

HAMBURG The most beautiful city in Germany
Hamburg (English: /ˈhæmbɜːrɡ/; German: [ˈhambʊɐ̯k]; officially the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg; German: Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg; Low German/Low Saxon: Friee un Hansestadt Hamborg)[6] is the second-largest city in Germany with a population of over 1.8 million.
One of Germany's 16 federal states, it is surrounded by Schleswig-Holstein to the north and Lower Saxony to the south. The city's metropolitan region is home to more than five million people. Hamburg lies on the River Elbe and two of its tributaries, the River Alster and the River Bille.
The official name reflects Hamburg's history as a member of the medieval Hanseatic League and a free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire. Before the 1871 Unification of Germany, it was a fully sovereign city state, and before 1919 formed a civic republic headed constitutionally by a class of hereditary grand burghers or Hanseaten. Beset by disasters such as the Great Fire of Hamburg, North Sea flood of 1962 and military conflicts including World War II bombing raids, the city has managed to recover and emerge wealthier after each catastrophe.
Hamburg is Europe's third-largest port. Major regional broadcasting firm NDR, the printing and publishing firm Gruner + Jahr and the newspapers Der Spiegel and Die Zeit are based in the city. Hamburg is the seat of Germany's oldest stock exchange and the world's oldest merchant bank, Berenberg Bank. Media, commercial, logistical, and industrial firms with significant locations in the city include multinationals Airbus, Blohm + Voss, Aurubis, Beiersdorf, and Unilever.
The city hosts specialists in world economics and international law, including consular and diplomatic missions as the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the EU-LAC Foundation, and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, multipartite international political conferences and summits such as Europe and China and the G20. Both former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Angela Merkel, German chancellor since 2005, come from Hamburg.
The city is a major international and domestic tourist destination. It ranked 18th in the world for livability in 2016.[7] The Speicherstadt and Kontorhausviertel were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2015.[8]
Hamburg is a major European science, research, and education hub, with several universities and institutions. Among its most notable cultural venues are the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle concert halls. It gave birth to movements like Hamburger Schule and paved the way for bands including The Beatles. Hamburg is also known for several theatres and a variety of musical shows. St. Pauli's Reeperbahn is among the best-known European entertainment districts.
