Medina Of Marrakesh Video Guide - Morocco Tourist Guide - Travel & Discover
Marrakesh is possibly the most important of Morocco's four former imperial cities (cities that were built by Moroccan Berber empires). The region has been inhabited by Berber farmers since Neolithic times, but the actual city was founded in 1062 by Abu Bakr ibn Umar, chieftain and cousin of Almoravid king Yusuf ibn Tashfin.

Walking Tour of Marrakech -- Morocco Old Medina Souk【4K】????????
Welcome to Marrakech, Morocco. A new Walking Tour of the Old Medina (Old City) and Main Square Djemaa El-Fna across of endless labyrinths of souks. In 4K by Wanna Walk
The common English spelling is Marrakesh and Marrakech in French is also widely used. I was told that the name Marrakech comes from the words amur kush which means The Land of God. This is the third largest city in Morocco with less population than Casablanca and Fez. The city lies near of the Atlas Mountains and it's pretty close to the Sahara Desert.
There are two very distinctive areas in Marrakesh: one is the Old Medina (old city) and the new Marrakesh, which is a kinda European style district called Ville Nouvelle or Gueliz. If you wanna walk, everything in the Old Medina can be seen on foot. A GPS is key because it's a laberintic area and you may not want to constantly ask for help to locals.

At night this area gets crowded as people navigate toward the exotic aromas and sights where exotic and hypnotic music appears louder too. There are many things to see and do in Marrakech. Walking around the souks will take you many hours as well as several historical and architectural places and some interesting museums.
What is Jemaa el-Fnaa? It’s a very popular square market in Marrakesh, medina quarter, Morocco. Also called Jemaa el-Fnaa (Arabic: ساحة جامع الفناء and Jemaa el-Fna, Djema el-Fna or Djemaa el-Fnaa) square and market.

What to see? The square of Djemaa El-Fna is very popular, in particular in the Marrakech's night. This place offers musicians, story tellers, drum beats, food, fruit juices, things like that. There are also some insisting Arab women wanting to give you a henna tattoo. I strongly recommend to totally ignore anyone who offers you something like a photo with a poor monkey or a snake over your shoulder.

MARRAKECH SOUKS AND MEDINA - Shopping in Marrakech
Marrakech Souks and Medina mission for Marrakech shopping. I'm buying Moroccan tiles for a friend. We venture deep in the Marrakech Souk market in search of these tiles, let me assure you a Marrakech Souk guide would have been most appreciated but I *think* I did alright exploring this Marrakech Souks and Medina, ultimately buying some Moroccan tiles.
The Marrakech Souks and Medina are simply not to be missed if you're coming for Marrakech shopping. In fact, if you're in Marrakech the Souk and Medina are two of the largest tourist attractions and great for shopping. Chances are you'll be staying in the Medina anyways as there are lots of Medina restaurants and hotels to cater to tourists.
If you're making a mission into the Marrakech Souks and Medina I have some advice for you. First, take your time and give yourself time. The Marrakech Souks are market are endless and if you're in a rush you won't find what you're looking for and at a good price. Also if you are in a rush in the Marrakech Markets you won't price compare and end up paying far too much, these guys are good! If they ask you to suggest a price, don't you'll always suggest far more than it is worth.
I search for Moroccan tile and finally find it. Its not the Moroccan tile I'm looking for but it is close and it will do. I don't price compare and end up paying far more than I should have but that's life. Later I find a a place and buy a Moroccan tajine. If you're coming to Morocco and like the food, pick up a Moroccan tajine when you're shopping in the Marrakech Souks and Medina, you will be glad you did! Later I find a Marrakech restaurant in the Medina and have an alright meal, I should have shopped around more much like the tiles.
The Marrakech Souks aren't dangerous if you go during the day. There are so many tourists there that you won't stand out, camera and all. That said, since it is the biggest market in Marrakech do pay attention to your things as busy places open the door for valuables to take a walk.

Info about Marrakech Souks: The souks are basically just markets. In parts of the world the term souk refers to market. The souks I visited have all sorts of stuff to sell from jewelry to fabrics, ceramics, clothing and everything in between.
Transcript:
hello from Marrakech, Morocco. I'm currently eating some peanuts I bought on the street. We're really close to the Souk in the ancient city of Medina. We're looking for Moroccan tiles, some really good ornate ones.
This is a busy spot in the medina market where you can find anything you need. How much is a ginger juice please? It's 6, perfect. We're getting healthy in the Marrakech Medina Main Square. Lots of stuff to buy here in the Souk but not sure about the quality of backpacks, shoes and such.
Now we are really starting to get into the souk, I've got 99 problems but spice ain't one. One of the problems in the souk is that if you ask anyone for directions they flag someone who will go show you a shop they get a commission so finding your way can be hard, why having a Marrakech Souk guide makes a big deal.
Exploring the market is a good experience, we're on the right path and you'll never know unless you go. Do you know where I can find some Moroccan tiles in the souk? We're sort of on the right track, there we go we've found what we're looking for. I like this one, I like all of them. The mosaic ones are nice and we speak French.
That's a deal, I'm not sure what else they had at the artisan place but if you find what you need you gotta take it unless you have lots of time. It's so big you never know if you'll find it or not. I really wan to buy a Moroccan tajine but don't know how I would get it home. Might as well buy a Moroccan tajine and if it breaks on the way home so be it but if it doesn't, cool.
I feel good about this because I love tajine and enjoying this Marrakech Souk and Market. If you could ship stuff home, lots of nice shopping available but where I live it's not an option. That was a successful mission and on the topic of tajine let's go find some authentic Moroccan food at a market restaurant and get out of here. Let's push the envelop and eat one of those smoothies of sorts with dates in it.
We're going to end the video here, tile shopping in Marrakech in the ancient city of Medina and on that note, I look forward to seeing all of you, tomorrow.

Tunes by Bonus Points - Morning Mimosa
Medina of Marrakesh (UNESCO/NHK)
Founded in 1070--72 by the Almoravids, Marrakesh remained a political, economic and cultural centre for a long period. Its influence was felt throughout the western Muslim world, from North Africa to Andalusia. It has several impressive monuments dating from that period: the Koutoubiya Mosque, the Kasbah, the battlements, monumental doors, gardens, etc. Later architectural jewels include the Bandiâ Palace, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, ...

Walking in The Medina in Marrakech (no commentary)
We enjoyed a great four days exploring Marrakech, Morocco this week and the most exciting and fun part was exploring the medina or market area. Here is just five minutes of walking through the Medina in Marrakech. No commentary, just so you can see a bit of the fun, the colors, the sights of Marrakech.
We have Morocco videos coming soon once we are back home with our editing equipment.
Morocco has been great and we can't wait to share more. See our pictures on
FIRST TIME IN MARRAKECH :: MOROCCO'S BEAUTIFUL RED CITY MEDINA
If you find yourself in Marrakech you must find the Good Year shop where he makes everything from recycled tired. One of the coolest places I have ever shopped and it doesn't get any more sustainable than that. Marrakech is SO much bigger than I had thought and we only scratched the surface of the old city Medina today -- this is only part I of this vlog because there was so much footage I had to cut it in half. People said that we should prepare ourselves for how crazy the Red City would be for us -- but honestly, I found it to be pretty similar to home and we felt safe even at night... even if we got insanely ripped off by all the taxi drivers (( coming in part II will be up tomorrow! ))

Moroccan Street Food in Marrakech, Morocco - BEST Street Food in Jamaa El Fna, Maroc المغرب
Check out for 3 months free w/ 1 year pack and 49% OFF! Today, we're going DEEP into the heart of downtown Marrakech, to try some AMAZING Moroccan Street Food. You can explore with us as we explore Jamaa el fnaa, the main square in downtown Marrakech.
► The BEST VPNs for China:
This was my first time traveling to Marrakech, Morocco, and I fell in love with the atmosphere and Moroccan street food scene immediately. In Marrakech, there is an old atmosphere that makes you feel like you're walking into an ancient movie.
First, we are trying some amazing Moroccan lamb. It had some delicious Moroccan spices and seasonings and was extremely juicy. Our friend Firas brought us to stall #13 in Jama el Fna. They also had another classic Moroccan food, the Tanjia. This was huge chunks of moroccan lamb put into a clay pot and boiled with smen (moroccan preserved butter) and preserved lemons. It was extremely tender and juicy and flavoured really well with moroccan spice and seasonings like salt and cumin and dipped with bread.
And of course, in Jama Al Fna there was a lot of other moroccan foods like Moroccan Tagine, Merguez sausages, fresh orange juice, snail soup (which was delicious!), and of course Moroccan mint tea!
If you visit Morocco, make sure to come to the downtown Jamaa Al Fnaa square in Marrakech. The food here was super delicious and the energy was amazing, especially on your first night right after coming off the plane! That rush is amazing!
The Morocco Street Food that we found in this street food vlog is listed below:
1) Morrocan Tanjia, steamed meat, and sheep head:
Found at stall number 13 in Jamaa Al Fna
2) Amazing Moroccan Snail Soup (Bebouch) - We found this one at stall #5.
3) Fresh glass of Moroccan Orange juice - Stall #19.
