Meenmutty Falls, the largest and most spectacular waterfall in the Wayanad District, is a 2 km hike though the jungle from the main Ooty Road. It is Kerala's second largest waterfall and the one most unspoiled in its natural setting. Each of its three tiers requires a separate hike through a moist, deciduous forest. The path is quiet dangerous and tiresome, but the waterfalls are worth it.

The three tired waterfall, at a height of 300m is the biggest waterfalls in Wayanad and the second largest in Kerala. The name ‘Meenmutty’ derived from the concept that the fishes are blocked here. ‘Meen’ means ‘fish’ and ‘Mutty’ means ‘blocked’ and thus ‘Meenmutty’.

The 300 meter high falls is really splendid and wonderful. Meenmutty means where fish are blocked. Since there is upward falls where fishes can't swim further this name is given to the falls. The three tiers of the waterfall requires separate hike through the forest. It is important to note that the path to reach the falls is perilous and tiring. But you must also remember that once you reach the falls you will have great deal of enjoyment in store.

In this video me and my friend explored the places Meenmutty falls.. where you have to trek to visit the falls ..with amazing view of the water falls.. and Pookode lake which is surrounded by nature.. and also had Kerala style meals with fish and beef..both the places give a peace of mind to us we enjoyed a lot in this day trip and it was amazing and also the rain made it more pleasant
