Bali, Indonesia, ep. 2, บาหลี, อินโดนีเซีย
We have arrived Lovina at the northern coast of Bali, Indonesia, where we explore the dark, gray (by volcanic ash) beaches and meet more of the ever smiling, warm people of this tropical paradise. A father and son takes us out for a wonderful boat ride to experience the acrobatics and frolicking of a school of dolphins, an experience of a lifetime. On our way to town we get surprised by heavy rain and stop for a meal at a local restaurant, and we go to see the beach life and fishermen coming back from a day at the sea . Our holiday in Bali ends with a ride back to Kuta Beach in the south by mini bus, where we spend the last day at the golden beaches together with surfers and groups of locals as well as other tourists. The sunset in Kuta Beach is really something.
This video is captured with a Panasonic NV-MX8 video camera, and edited in Pinnacle Studio.

Life Inside Bali's Infamous Kerobokan Prison | Foreign Correspondent
To many, Bali’s Kerobokan jail is a place of creepy fascination, a repository of misery in an island playground. But what’s it really like in there?
For the first time a TV crew has obtained virtually unrestricted access to all corners of Kerobokan’s men’s prison. The Foreign Correspondent team spend a week roaming the jail, filming and interviewing prisoners and guards to capture life inside.
Yeah, this is my little piece of paradise – Bali Nine member Matthew Norman.

Indonesian Street Food at Gianyar Night Market in Bali - ALL FOOD FOR ONLY $5.07!

Pasar Senggol, Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia
The night market in Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia, known as Pasar Senggol is an amazing place to eat a range of different Indonesian Balinese street food!
One evening, we headed over to the market at about 5 pm to start eating, and in this video I’ll show you everything I ate on this Balinese street food tour.
Babi guling - Babi guling, or Balinese style roast pig, is one of the ultimate things you have to eat, especially if you enjoy pork, when you’re in Bali. I started the street food tour off with a plate of babi guling. I was alright, but could have been better had it been hot and fresher.
30,000 IDR ($2.20) per plate
Sweets - Along with full meals, you’ll find an abundance of Indonesian street food snacks and desserts. Klepon was my favorite.
1,000 IDR ($0.7) per box
Nasi ayam campur - This stall served one of the best single plates of food I had in Bali, ayam betutu and some mixed chicken all over a plate of rice with all the toppings and mixes. The food was sensational, packed with flavor.
25,000 IDR ($1.84)
Tipat cantok - Similar to another common Indonesian street food called gado gado, tipat cantok includes rice cakes and bean sprouts in a peanut sauce. It was pretty good, and I enjoyed how you could watch her making it in front of you.
7,000 IDR ($0.51)
Serombotan - Finally, to end this Indonesian street food tour in Bali, I had a serving of something called serombotan, a delicious mixture of vegetables and coconut and shrimp paste. It was surprisingly very good and flavorful.
5,000 IDR ($0.37)

Special thank you to Made for driving us around!
Bali is an amazing place to eat - there are so many incredible dishes, and the unique Balinese culture paired with the food is what makes it so special. In this Indonesian street food tour of Bali, I’m taking you to 6 street food stalls / restaurants in a row, for serious food lovers!
Warung Nasi Bali Men Weti - Some consider this legendary stall, right along the ocean to be the best Balinese local street food spot in Denpasar, Bali, and after eating it, there’s absolutely no room for argument. The plate of food you’ll be served is nothing short of spectacular, full of Balinese flavor.
Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83) per plate
Warung Mak Beng - Known for their fried fish set, Warung Mak Beng is another legendary Balinese restaurant. Their fish was amazing, both the fish head soup and the fried fish, and not forgetting their amazing sambal. Another must eat when you’re in Bali.
Price - 45,000 IDR ($3.29) per set
Sate Plecing Arjuna - This is a place you come to eat sate plecing, a type of Indonesian street food sate that’s covered in a shrimp paste chili sambal. They were incredibly delicious as well, especially the samel.
Total price - 68,000 IDR ($4.98)
Sate Babi Bawah Pohon - In Bali, pork is very common, and this is probably one of the most well known Indonesian street food stalls in all of Bali. For me the pork sate was a little on the sweet side, however it was still pretty tasty.
Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83)
Babi Guling Pak Dobiel - When it comes to Balinese food, there’s nothing more famous to try than babi guling, Balinese style roast pig served with all the side dishes. It’s spectacular combination and you’ll find dozens of restaurants serving babi guling. In this Balinese food tour I went to Babi Guling Pak Dobiel, and it’s the best plate of babi guling I had in Bali.
Total price - 100,000 IDR ($7.32) for 2
Warung Kintamani - Ubud - Finally, to finish off this Balinese food tour, we headed back to Ubud and Made, took me to eat mujair nyatnyat, tilapia in a curry sauce. It was awesome delicious, a perfect way to end this Indonesian street food tour of Bali.
Total price - 105,000 IDR ($7.68) for 3

Done Bali - Documentary
'Done Bali' - Documentary, 60 min
Prime Ministers, presidents, pop stars and poets have all done Bali. Kerry Negara took her film crew to Bali in 1992, and in a ground breaking documentary interviewed for the first time, local Balinese about the traumatic history of their so called paradise island.
She did not find Nehru's, morning of the world, but rather an anxious society juggling the complexities of having one foot in the ancient world and one foot in the modern, in a constant struggle for day to day survival.
'Done Bali' unravels the spin and exposes the vested interests that created the myth of Bali as a paradise during the most traumatic century the Balinese had endured the 20th century.
Australian historian Dr Adrian Vickers with Balinese academics Degung Santikarma, I.B. Palguna and Putu Suasta, trace the political manipulations of the early 20th century where bizarrely, in the colonial European imagination, Bali went from being a savage island to a paradise island almost overnight.
The elderly I.B. Rupa gives first hand reports of of the suffering endured by himself and his family in Bali during these same 'paradise years' - the harsh Japanese invasion of the second world war that saw food supplies diminish, volcanic eruptions and natural disasters on a grand scale, poverty and social unrest in the 1960's, the bloody communist purge of the 1960's where an estimated 80,000 Balinese were murdered...
In Ubud, the so called cultural heart of Bali, Kerry finds the disempowered aristocracy busily reinventing itself to take advantage of the financial boon of cultural tourism, while in the beach areas of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak a highly competitive group of expat manufacturers are partying and playing hard, creating havoc in their corner of paradise.
Meanwhile the tourists are in a daze with the golden flowers, the incense and the amazing surf. Through their eyes its all a happy paradise, where every child is a dancer and every farmer an artist.
In an era of mass tourism many vested interests rigidly protect this highly lucrative, saleable image of a cultural paradise - at the expense of truth.
While paying tribute to a resilient island people and a stunning tropical environment 'Done Bali' will forever change the way you see this paradise island.
When Done Bali first premiered on SBS Television it was screened three times in one month due to audience demand and record breaking ratings - such was the shock of the truth to Australians who knew so little of the island they had visited so often.
Done Bali continues to screen internationally and is on curriculum lists around the world.

You Need to Visit Canggu. Best Town in Bali. Street Art Tour (Where to stay in Bali)
We’ve found one of our favourite places on the planet (to date)! Canggu is on the Southwest coast of Bali, and is known as a digital nomad haven full of coffee shops and bars.
We spent the day exploring Canggu trying to find the best things to do in the town.
We started off at our fabulous Airbnb to show you what you can get for your money in that area! Looking for $40 off you first AirBNB booking? click here:
After showing off the rental we made our way into town passing by some beautiful homes on the way.
First we head to one of the more famous coffee shops in the area called Crate Cafe. Here you’ll find healthy food, and lots of coffee at a really affordable price, they also have a fair bit of artwork around.
We’d worked up an appetite at this point so we headed to a Vietnamese restaurant called Leroy’s to get some Banh Mi sandwiches.
After this we made our way through town trying to find street art. Canggu as well known for having lots of graffiti and street art around and we found an abundance.
Lastly we headed down to the beach (Batu Bolong Beach) to check it out for the first time. There are lots of beach clubs around but we just walked along the beach area to check out the surfers.

CRATE CAFE
A space where good music, good food, good coffee and good people meet, and create good vibes. Our ethos is to Create a Community. Keep it simple and keep it consistent is our motto. These days people want to buy into an experience and a lifestyle more than just a product or service. Our place is so much more than a Cafe, its a family. The Cafe was opened in April 2014, by us ( Nyoman and Maree ) to service the hungry needs of the Canggu community. We both have a love for coffee and getting it right was our aim. We outsourced local suppliers to ensure produce was delivered fresh daily. As the community grew, so did we. And in November 2017, we moved to our new premises to continue doing what we love.
ABOUT CANGGU
Canggu is a coastal village and 10 km beach on the south coast of Bali, Indonesia. It lies approximately 10 kilometers north of Kuta, and presents a much more relaxing atmosphere of dining, cultural and beach activities. The main Canggu streets are Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Padang Linjong, Jalan Batu Mejan and Jalan Tanah Barak. Along Jalan Batu Bolong you find the temple of the dead, Pura Merajapati, and the Pipitan Cemetery. Along the beach there are two main temples, Pura Batu Bolong and Pura Batu Mejan, which are both hundreds of years old and were initiated for building by Dang Hyang Nirartha. The Canggu area used to have scenic views of paddy fields and coconut groves but current rapid developments are quickly replacing these traditional views with private villas.
ABOUT BALI
Bali is a province of Indonesia and an island on the westernmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Located on the east of Java and west of Lombok, the province includes the island of Bali and a few smaller neighbouring islands, notably Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. The provincial capital, Denpasar, is the most populous city in the Lesser Sunda Islands and the second largest in Eastern Indonesia after Makassar.
Bali is Indonesia's main tourist destination, which has seen a significant rise in tourists since the 1980s. Tourism-related business makes up 80% of its economy. It is renowned for its highly developed arts, including traditional and modern dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music.
