EUROPE 2018 VLOG EP07
Meaningful Meanders: the Tour - Leg 3 (PART1)
Copenhagen, Denmark
I traveled to Copenhagen to discover its sustainable concepts on environment, economy and social responsibility, and its equity on genders, races and transportation.
I didn’t have any local friend there like I have in other countries I visited. That leads me to use Airbnb Experiences to meet locals and ask them questions about this country.
My sister joined my Scandinavian adventure and we got to participate in three Airbnb Experiences. Our local guides took us to many cool spots around the city and we learned so much about the things we saw and places we stood.
I thought I can get away from the heat since it’s Northern Europe, however, Copenhagen experienced a major drought this summer, so as most countries in Europe.
In our Airbnb Experiences, we visited the fascinating neighborhood of Nørrebro, its diverse population inspired artists and architects to build the iconic Superkilen Park! There are different artifacts from all over the globe representing over 60 nationalities that live in this neighborhood. We found a juice bar sign from Taiwan that we were super excited about.
We had the opportunity to visit a Danish family and learned about their housing design and regulations that typical tourists won’t experience!
As a foodie and environmental conscious world citizen, I really enjoyed our experience with Heather through Airbnb Experience that we had a 3 hour conversation about food and its connection between human, economy and nature, and also the New Nordic Food Movement!

Tour of Copenhagen - Big Danish Lunch + Canal Boat Tour in Denmark!
????Copenhagen Street Food Tour:
????T-shirts and caps:
Thank you to Visit Copenhagen:
Bicycle Ride - In order to really blend in with Danish culture in Copenhagen, you need to go around the city by bicycle. So on day one of our visit to Copenhagen, we jumped into a bicycle cart, and rode over the park. #Copenhagen #Denmark
Frederiksberg Have - Copenhagen has lots of beautiful parks, and we strategically went to one called Frederiksberg Have because it wasn’t far from where we were staying, and there was a restaurant I really wanted to try in the area.
Hansens Gamle Familiehave ( - I love legendary classic restaurants, and Hansens Gamle Familiehave is about as historical and classic as Danish restaurants in Copenhagen get. I went straight for the Hansens lunch platter, which included two platters - first the cold appetizers like herring, and next the hot dishes like pork. Total bill for this huge Danish lunch platter - 718 DKK ($106.43)
Hey Captain ( - One of the attractions I was most interested in doing during my time in Copenhagen, was to take a boat Copenhagen Canal Tour. Thanks to Visit Copenhagen and Hey Captain, for taking me on this fantastic and luxurious canal boat tour of Copenhagen. The drinks made it even better. Amazing boat tour, highly recommended in Copenhagen.
Folkehuset Absalon ( - Finally for dinner we went o Folkehuset Absalon, a former church that has been opened as a community center coffee shop, and a family style restaurant at dinner. The place is packed every night, people come looking for a social dining atmosphere, sharing tables, and delicious home cooked styles Danish food. Food was delicious. Price - 100 DKK ($14.82)
And that wraps up this tour of Copenhagen, including Danish food and attractions!

FREDERIKSBERG GARDENS near Copenhagen, the amazing green palace park.
Visit and enjoy a day in Frederiksberg Gardens with your family - originally designed as a royal palace garden in French baroque style at the threshold to Frederiksberg Palace. Meet the local people just a short trip with the metro or by bike. Eat Danish food, and explore the local attractions.
The garden has since then been redesigned several times, but from around 1800 it was transformed into the Romantic English garden characterising its present curvy form. Neighbouring Copenhagen Zoo, you can even have a sneak peek at an exotic heard of elephants from the garden.
UNDERGROUND M3 METRO RAILWAY COPENHAGEN ! Opening ceremony???? Largest construction in Denmark history
#4kvideo #copenhagen #denmark????????
Finally, the new Metro line is open
Largest construction in Denmark history after 400 years, 15.5km long tunnel. 17 new Metro stations
Cityringen is open
Copenhagen’s new Cityringen metro line – the city’s largest infrastructure project in 400 years – opened to the public on 29 September.
M3 Cityringen is a 15.5 km underground railway under downtown Copenhagen, connecting the bro quarters: Vesterbro, Nørrebro, Østerbro with Frederiksberg and the historical city centre. The circle line will have 17 underground stations and on two of the stations, Frederiksberg and Kongens Nytorv, you can change to the existing lines, M1 and M2.
Faster through the city
Just like the already existing lines, M3 is fully automated and has very frequent departures. Therefore, there are no timetables in The Copenhagen Metro. Just go down to the station - a train will be coming within the next couple of minutes. It takes 24 minutes to go full circle, and since the metro trains run in both directions, the longest journey - between Copenhagen H and Skjolds Plads - is only 12 minutes.
In the summer of 2011, 17 construction sites where established throughout Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Behind the characteristic green 'Cool Construction' fences, the largest construction in Denmark since Christian IV founded Christianshavn and the ramparts began at the sites and below ground. In 2013, the four large tunnel boring machines began their underground work, and four years later they had completed the 31km tunnel.
The last part of the construction work has focused on implementing the visions that the architects conceived. Even though Cityringen broadly continues the functional concepts from the existing lines and station interior, it will still be a completely new and different metro experience.
Bright and clear spaces
The next generation of Metro stations have been created to complement Cityringen, The Copenhagen Metro’s new circle line. Cityringen’s stations will follow the now-familiar Copenhagen model welcomed by Metro users: spacious, open, subterranean stations with easy access from street level and to the platform. This design gives natural daylight inside the stations. This special quality of light has become one of the Copenhagen Metro’s hallmarks.
The design of the Metro fittings in the station area have been taken in new directions. It is imperative that the diversity of the urban spaces into which Cityringen’s stations is integrated is respected and taken into account. Local variations affect the design of elements, such as stairways and skylights. In addition to providing the subterranean cityscape of the Metro with daylight, at some locations, skylights is designed to function as integrated and attractive features of the cityscape above ground.
The Metro regularly performs maintenance of the tracks during evening and nights to ensure that the Metro is safe and runs smoothly.
Thanks ????

Copenhagen Travel Guide - Denmark Unique Experience
Copenhagen Travel Guide - Denmark Unique Experience
Copenhagen (Danish: København) is the capital of Denmark and what a million Danes call home. Copenhagen is big enough to be a metropolis with shopping, culture and nightlife par excellence, yet still small enough to be intimate, safe and easy to navigate. Overlooking the Øresund strait with Sweden just minutes away, it is a cultural and geographic link between mainland Europe and Scandinavia. This is where old fairy tales blend with flashy new architecture and world-class design; where warm jazz mixes with cold electronica from Copenhagen's basements. You'll feel you've seen it all in a day, but could keep on discovering more for months.
If entering the city using the highways, you won't meet a city limit sign saying København (Copenhagen). Instead you'll see Storkøbenhavn, which means Greater Copenhagen. While the original part of Copenhagen is located in a small area by the waterway between Zealand and Amager. Today these are distinctive municipalities, together making up the city's metropolitan area with around 2 million inhabitants. A notable exception is Frederiksberg, an independent municipality with its own mayor and municipal council, located inside Copenhagen. The other boroughs in and around Copenhagen are as follows:
Indre By (Inner City)
Downtown, The Medieval city - a place of many names, but it is the historical heart of Copenhagen, dotted with church spires, historic buildings, narrow alleys and excellent shopping venues.
Christianshavn (Christian's Harbour)
Originally laid out as a working class neighbourhood 300 years ago, it is now a thriving area notable for its many canals. The Freetown of Christiania is situated in the eastern section of Christianshavn, along with the old naval area, turned trendy: Holmen.
Vesterbro (Western Bridge)
This district has evolved tremendously in recent years and is now one of the hippest places to live, with cafes and bars dotted along its main artery, Istedgade.
Frederiksberg
A small town which originally formed around Frederiksberg castle, this area is still a independent municipality. Literally surrounded by the City of Copenhagen, it has preserved a unique, conservative, upscale feel.
Nørrebro (Northern Bridge)
One of the most vibrant parts of Copenhagen, especially along the main artery, Nørrebrogade, with a mix of immigrants, students, and original, working-class Nørrebro inhabitants.
Østerbro (Eastern Bridge)
A cosy neighbourhood north of the centre - less vibrant than Nørrebro and Vesterbro, and less unusual than Frederiksberg. It is the home of the famous Little Mermaid statue, the beautifully preserved Kastellet citadel, and numerous piers for small ferries and large cruise ships. The area west of the train track has
Amager
Once a bastion of the working class, this island, with its own distinct atmosphere, is booming with new development. It is the home of Copenhagen's airport, located in the town of Kastrup and thus named Kastrup Airport.
Northern suburbs
A visit to these green suburbs and Dyrehavsbakken, — the world's oldest running amusement park; Frilandsmuseet — the world's largest open air museum; or canoeing down the Mill River, will leave no doubt that this is an altogether different kind of suburbia. It is often colloquially known to locals as the whisky belt, due to its often well-heeled residents.
Vestegnen
The suburbs west and south of the city, short on attractions apart from the good Arken art museum, it has some good beaches and camping opportunities.

CPH VLOG: Sunrise at Hellerup - Green Island Of Copenhagen
These days I wake up very early. So I decided to see if I could wake up a little earlier to see the sunrise from Hellerup Strand(beach). I did wake up and I hurried to the beach and even though it was a little cloudy at the horizon it was magical. Sunrise is something that happens everyday but it is still magical. Then I biked to work, because the weather was perfect. I had a chance to see Nyhavn empty and snapped some pictures. :D
Hot Local Tip: Wake up early! If you want to take pictures from popular locations, without people in them, go there around 6-7 am.
After work I went to this kinda new cafe/bar floating on Copenhagen canal at Kalvebod Brygge, close to Langebro or even closer to Copenhagen Marriott Hotel.

CTR's district heating in the Metropolitan Copenhagen area
The Metropolitan Copenhagen Heating Transmission Company, CTR for short, is a partnership formed in 1984 by the municipalities of Frederiksberg, Gentofte, Gladsaxe, Copenhagen and Tårnby.
CTR has the objective of supplying the individual recipient municipalities and local heat supply enterprises with district heating, primarily based on surplus heat from waste incineration plants and combined heat and power generation plants (CHP plants). Oil-fired heating plants are only used in peak-load and/or back-up situations.
CTR's assignments cover the purchase of heat from production units, heat generation in its own peak-load and back-up units, transport through the transmission system and sales to the five Partnership Municipalities, as well as the exchange of heat with Vestegnens Kraftvarmeselskab I/S (VEKS). Moreover, CTR is in charge of the planning, establishment, funding and further development of the entire transmission system. Finally, CTR participates as an associate by investing in and operating a geothermal facility in Amager, from which facility heat is also received.
CTR is responsible for developing and operating the transmission system -- a 54 km transmission network, 3 booster pump stations, 14 peak-load units and 26 heat-exchanger statations -- from which the heat is transmitted to the local district heating systems in the partnership municipalities.
CTR's objective is to purchase, transport and supply district heating and in special situations to supplement this by production of heat from its own peak-load units. The heat is transported in a transmission system that is owned by CTR. Heat consumers in CTR's partnership municipalities -- Frederiksberg, Gentofte, Gladsaxe, Copenhagen and Tårnby -- meet their heating requirements through CTR via the utilization of excess heat from refuse incineration plants and CHP plants, etc.
Heat purchase, monitoring and delivery are managed from CTR's control room in Frederiksberg via an extended control, regulation and monitoring system.
Sexelance: Danish 'sex ambulance' seeks to protect sex workers
Two days a week, Danish social entrepreneur Michael Lodberg Olsen drives his “Sexelance” and parks it in the streets of Vesterbro, Copenhagen's red light district. Olsen, who has worked on initiatives for vulnerable people since the early 1990s, converted an old ambulance into a mobile unit where street sex workers can work for no charge in a safe and clean environment, guarded by volunteers from a distance.
