Meihua Lake, located in De-an Village of Dongshan Township, was originally named Dapi (Great Lake). In the 1970s, President Chiang Ching Kuo visited the area, including the lake, and was impressed by its beautiful surroundings including the lake's resemblance to a plum flower with five pedals. Hence he named it Meihua (plum blossom) Lake.
Meihua Lake occupies a wide expanse of land and is bordered by verdant mountains on 3 sides, featuring outstanding scenery. The total lake surface is about 20 hectares. Circling the lake is a trail allowing visitors to stroll tranquilly around while enjoying the picturesque scenery. Cherry and willow trees are planted along the trail, adding more charm to the lake. A small island sits in the middle of the lake with a suspension bridge connecting it to the circular trail, providing an exquisite view.

Dongshan River Water Park (冬山河親水公園), Yilan, Taiwan, 05/28/2011
The Dong Mountain (Dongshan) River is only 24 kilometers long, but it is the fifth-longest stream in Yilan. A multi-purpose riverside recreation area has been planned along its course to provide for sports, leisure, and recreation activities divided into upstream, midstream, and downstream sections, each of which exhibits a different recreational character into what, it is hoped, will make the river into an outdoor water park. The most important recreational site on the river is the Dong Mountain (Dongshan) River Water Park, which has been designed to rebuild the natural relationship between man and water. This park simulates the natural landscapes and incorporates elements of the native culture of Lanyang--for example, there is a water stage, five conical stone towers built of pebbles, and Turtle Island, which rises from the sea off the Yilan coast, bring the landmark of Lanyang into the park, seemingly without thought. The banks of the Dong Mountain (Dongshan) River are claimed by legend to be protected by a green dragon and a yellow dragon, and for this reason undulations and curves are built of pebbles along the river's banks to simulate dragons' scales, with pottery tile inlays of green and blue, and orange and yellow, adding to the characters of the two different types of dragon. Interesting mosaic pictures--masterpieces executed by the children of Lanyang--embellish the dragon-skin steps. Today, the annual Dragon Boat races, international scholastic rowing championships, and international toy festival are all held in the Dong Mountain (Dongshan) River Park. For the Qixi Chinese Lovers' Day, and magpie bridge (by which, according to Chinese traditional, two legendary lovers are allowed to meet once a year) is built to add to the park's romantic atmosphere. Over the past few years, the Dong Mountain (Dongshan) River Water Park has become one of the hottest tourist destinations in Taiwan.

Zinangong (紫南宮) is a famous temple for lending money to its believers for up to NT$600. After one year, believers are supposed to come back to return the borrowed money (believers often return with interest as extra thanks to the Land god). The max. NT$600 may be saved or used to purchase something relating to your trade as either of these two actions are supposed to help facilitate the lucky flow of wealth around you.
Everyone wants to touch the Golden Chicken which is outside of temple. You may as well go to Taiwan's one and only 7-stars bathroom architecturally designed to resemble Bamboo shoots.
Jiji weir has become the water resources management center of Zhuoshui River. Its purpose is stabilizing irrigational water resources, allocating water resources effectively and providing industrial water for Yunlin Off-Shore basic industrial district.

Ming Chi is a beautiful small lake in the mountains of northern Taiwan. The area is constantly burried in the clouds which gives the lake a mystic atmosphere.
A saxphone player visits the lake daily which brings the black swan to dance around in front of him.

Guanyinshan is on the west bank of the Danshui River, with the main mountain chain between Wugu and Bali Districts in New Taipei City. It is a young extinct cone-shaped volcano, part of the Datun mountain group. Its north slope is mainly lava while the south is mainly debris flow deposit. Viewed from Danshui and Guandu areas, the mountain looks like Guanyin Buddha lying on her back, hence the name.
Guanyinshan is the home of many species of raptor and is also visited by many migratory birds of prey.

Chelungpu Park is located across from the ZhuShan ramp of Formosa Freeway. As implied by its name, Chelungpu Fault Preservation Park is built for preserving the surface rupture of Chelungpu Fault caused by 1999 Jiji Earthquake. Featuring the spectacular surface faulting with vertical displacements, the Park consists of two main parts: the Geological Science Hall and the Fault Preservation Hall. The former mainly introduces Taiwan's geological features through films, photographs, illustrations, interactive screens and exhibits, while the latter, an eggshell-shaped building, displays the original shape of the fault caused by the Jiji Earthquake (921 earthquake).

The Wufengqi Falls are one of the eight great scenic spots of the Lanyang Plains in Yilan County. The Wufengqi Falls are named for the five sharp peaks which stand in a row behind the falls, that look like the five triangular banners that usually hang down the back of the war generals costume in Chinese Opera. Fog and mist drift gracefully around the mountaintop year-long, and torrents of mountain springs continuously flow down its slopes, forming the three layers of cascades that are now the Wufengqi Falls. There are three layers to the Falls, and they measure 100 meters from top to bottom. The entrance to the scenic viewpoint is situated near the bottom layer of the Falls, and there is also a barbecue area, and a play area for children to splash in the pools. A viewing pavilion is constructed at the mid-layer of the Falls; there is a vast expanse of vision at this point , and tourists may enjoy viewing the lush mountains, and the cascades shooting out from the precipices. The scene in the eight famous scenic views of Lanyang that is poetically named, reshi mists draping the western peaks refers to the Wufengqi Falls. The Falls are situated in an enclosed valley, which enhances the mystic beauty of the peaks. At dawn, as the sky slowly begins to brighten, musical birdsong can be heard resonating throughout the valley; the unique tranquility in the atmosphere is indescribable.
