MELBOURNE CITY CENTRE NIGHT TIME MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA 4K
(MELBOURNE CITY) CENTRE NIGHT TIME (MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA) 4K
Melbourne comes alive with glittering light projections again this Christmas, over three locations in the city.
Start at the State Library Victoria to see this year’s feature show, a Very Melbourne Night Before Christmas, written by Marieke Hardy and narrated by Lee Lin Chin.
Then wander onward to see the epic static Christmas projections on the Melbourne Town Hall and, for the first time, Princes Bridge.
(Melbourne city centre) (also known colloquially as simply The City or The CBD[3]) is the central built up area of the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, centred on the Hoddle Grid, the oldest part of the city laid out in 1837, and includes its fringes. It is not to be confused with the larger local government area of the City of Melbourne which includes this area and the inner suburbs around it.
The boundaries are not precise as it is not currently an official area, but the area of boundaries of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Statistical Area Level 2 'Melbourne'[4] represents the commonly understood area of what is usually meant by 'the CBD' or 'the city'; this includes the Hoddle Grid, plus the area of parallel streets just to the north up to Victoria Street including the Queen Victoria Market, but not the Flagstaff Gardens, and the area between Flinders Street and the Yarra river.
The Central City is the core of Greater Melbourne's metropolitan area, and is a major financial centre in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. It is home to Melbourne's famed alleyways and arcades and is renowned for its distinct blend of contemporary and Victorian architecture,[5] and home to five of the six tallest buildings in Australia. In recent times, it has been placed alongside New York City and Berlin as one of the world's great street art meccas, and designated a City of Literature by UNESCO in its Creative Cities Network

Melbourne
Melbourne is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second most populous city in Australia and Oceania. Its name refers to an urban agglomeration of 9,993 km2 (3,858 sq mi), comprising a metropolitan area with 31 municipalities, and is also the common name for its city centre. The city occupies much of the coastline of Port Phillip bay and spreads into the hinterlands towards the Dandenong and Macedon ranges, Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley. It has a population of 5 million (19% of the population of Australia), and its inhabitants are referred to as Melburnians.
The city was founded on 30 August 1835, in the then-British colony of New South Wales, by free settlers from the colony of Van Diemen’s Land (modern-day Tasmania). It was incorporated as a Crown settlement in 1837, and named Melbourne by Governor General Richard Bourke on 10 April 1837 in honour of the British Prime Minister, William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne. In 1851, four years after Queen Victoria declared it a city, Melbourne became the capital of the new colony of Victoria. In the wake of the 1850s Victorian gold rush, the city entered a lengthy boom period that, by the late 1880s, had transformed it into one of the world's largest and wealthiest metropolises. After the federation of Australia in 1901, it served as interim seat of government of the new nation until Canberra became the permanent capital in 1927. Today, it is a leading financial centre in the Asia-Pacific region and ranks 15th in the Global Financial Centres Index.
The city is home to many of the best-known cultural institutions in the nation, such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the National Gallery of Victoria and the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. It is also the birthplace of Australian impressionism, Australian rules football, the Australian film and television industries and Australian contemporary dance. More recently, it has been recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature and a global centre for street art, live music and theatre. It is the host city of annual international events such as the Australian Grand Prix, the Australian Open and the Melbourne Cup, and has also hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Due to it rating highly in entertainment, tourism and sport, as well as education, health care, research and development, the EIU currently ranks it the second most liveable city in the world, and it was ranked as the world's most liveable city for seven years in a row, from 2011 until 2017.
The main airport serving the city is Melbourne Airport (also referred to as Tullamarine Airport), which is the second busiest in Australia, and Australia's busiest seaport the Port of Melbourne. Its main metropolitan rail terminus is Flinders Street station and its main regional rail and road coach terminus is Southern Cross station. It also has the most extensive freeway network in Australia and the largest urban tram network in the world.

Melbourne Pool, Derbyshire. A Time-lapse recording of vintage tractors and Geese on May 31st 2009 HD
best viewed in fullscreen and at 720p.
Today was a glorious sunny and warm day (22C) so had a picnic next to Melbourne Pool and took this small time-lapse video of life here.
As you can see a load of Vintage Tractors came through next to the pool, not sure where they were heading to, must have been an event somewhere nearby I guess. Do you know?
Melbourne Pool is located in the Derbyshire village of Melbourne. This is a beautiful location (but don't tell everyone!) Very peaceful place to come and watch the waterfoul on the lake.
Melbourne parish church is located on the right side of Pool Road as you walk into Melbourne Pool, the church is 889 Years old!
Other places of interest in this village :
The Thomas Cook Memorial Cottages in High Street were built by Thomas Cook who started popular travel in England. Cook was born in Melbourne in 1808.

A 99 with flake and Raspberry sauce for £1 seems good value compared with what you can pay in some places.

Sing It For Melbourne
Christian is pleased to present to you this song, written for Melbourne, by Melbourne!
When Melbourne got knocked down off the top spot by Vienna in the World's Most Liveable Cities list, he felt an injustice had been done. This was a man who had moved his entire family and dog her to the most liveable city in the world from England and Europe. the only thing that he could possibly think of that might be a reason - was that Vienna, had their very own 80s rock song (by Ultravox!).
After speaking with the Lord Mayor Sally Capp, Christian commissioned Jack to write Melbourne it's very own anthem. A refill of his creative cup and Jack definitely delivered, writing these awesome song lyrics, which make us all proud to be Melburnian.
Christian wanted a Melbourne school choir so he found a great one from Vocal Arts Studios.
Listeners to his show also co-wrote the song too. The great local singer Michael Mills from Toehider jumped onboard as did legendary sports commentator Hamish McLachlan.
The song, Sing It For Melbourne, is available for purchase from iTunes - click here to buy it! All profits raised are being donated to the Starlight Foundation, whose mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families.
SING IT FOR MELBOURNE
Making friends, the Paris end,
I’ll meet you at Flinders St Station
The tram cars, the street art
I threw up at Luna park
The state library, the NGV
Drinking coffee on Brunswick st
At Fitzroy Gardens, walk through the trees
To watch the footy at the MCG
As the weather gets better
We will barbecue together
Arm and arm we sway and sing her name
Everybody sing it for Melbourne, Melbourne
Everybody sing it for Melbourne, Melbourne
I’m a vulture, for laneway culture,
Sporting culture, multiculturalism
Melbourne Museum, Crown Palladium,
And the various sporting stadiums
As the weather gets better
We will congregate together
Arm and arm we sway and sing her name
Everybody sing it for Melbourne, Melbourne
Everybody sing it for Melbourne, Melbourne
We are Melbourne, we are strong
We are up there at Number One
We will kick, kick 'em in the ass if we want
We keep going til we’re done
(Back Up Singers/choir):
We’re just having fun
We’re having fun
In Melbourne
Everybody sing it for Melbourne, Melbourne
Everybody sing it for Melbourne, Melbourne
This project would not have been possible without the help of many talented people, and we'd like to thank them all:

Why Vicbourne is not historically inaccurate ( Victoria & Melbourne had feelings 4 each other)
This is a collection of passages and quotes from diaries, biographies and such (NO fiction - list below) proving VIcbourne wasn't historically inaccurate (though later on replaced by Vicbert). With 'Vicbourne' I mean that Victoria and LordM had romantic feelings for each other. The video also unveils some creepy aspects in Victoria's relationship wth Albert (which are usually overlooked because who doesn't love a fairytale?) and it also explains how historically incorrect the movie 'Young Victoria' was when it made up that Albert was immediately taken by and physically attracted to Victoria when he saw her.
I am not giving any moral opinion about Victoria's relationship with LordM, for I am not a priest and they were both +18. I am not implying in any way that the Brocket Hall scene actually happened (the documents prove she had an enormous crush on him but she wasn't really aware of it, unless maybe near the very end, so she wouldn't be able to confess feelings she wasn't truly aware of), even if, were she more in contact with her feelings, I wouldn't put it past her to behave like that (especially if we consider her relationship with Brown later on).

Back to history, please note that Victoria's Journal has been heavily CENSORED.
Queen Victoria in her final years had read through her journals and marked the passages she wished to be preserved (all the rest was to be destroyed) and then committed the volumes to the care of her youngest daughter Beatrice. Beatrice, though, took it upon herself to preserve her mother's legend by censoring her mother's work. She read through all the diaries, transcribed a text in her ogn hand, selecting only a part of the passages Victoria had selected and then burned the original volume. 3/4 of Victoria's diaries went destroyed.
(*) I noticed how in the early days there were a couple of mentions of Melbourne looking at Victoria ‘fatherly’ in her diaries, but as times goes on, she doesn’t use that expression anymore… he is always referred as a ‘friend’, dear friend, best friend, and such… or there are references of him as a noble man, kindhearted man, handsome man, but anything ‘paternal’. I think Daisy Goodwin must have noticed this as well, for she made ‘her’ Victoria say “at the beginning I thought you were the father that I never have, but now …”
(*) my personal take on it, based on what I read and my sensibility, is that Melbourne:
- was incredibly anxious that the Queen had someone by her side and he knew his days were numbered;
- wanted to convince himself that he lost the Queen to the best existing candidate in the world, to make his pain bearable and to convince himself she was safe, well and wisely attended;
- maybe, blinded by irrational hope, he naively hoped that, helping the Prince, there would be a chance to be considered an ally and he will be allowed to be close even after he ceased to be Prime Minister;
- he genuinely saw Albert was clever and well intentioned, even if he thought him stern and intolerant (which honestly, he was), besides naive and likely going to consort with the Tories;
- as the Regency is concerned, he genuinely thought about what was best for the baby…aka his father Albert, whatever it would politically imply.
