Having filmed this vlog, I actually abandoned it when first looking back at the footage. It didn't feel as though enough was said or shown. Then I made a full U-turn and recovered it into what it is today! Follow our quick and impromptu street photography mission around Melbourne's laneways in the CBD. Showing the final photos and settings used to capture them, I hope it inspires you to go out and shoot too!

I took the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and 10-24mm f/4 OIS out for a test review around the streets of Melbourne, Australia. Capturing mostly the laneways around the CBD, I really enjoyed using this mirrorless camera instead of my DSLR.

Explore Melbourne : Flinders Lane - Melbourne's tastiest street (P2) - 4K
#melbournestreetview #flinderslane #melbourne #melbournewalk
[ Walk from Exhibition St to Swanston St ]
It's one of the city's best eat streets, with the CBD's highest concentration of award-winning fine diners and popular eateries. Don't miss Cumulus Inc., Supernormal, Coda, Chin Chin, Ezard, Cecconi's and Kenzan.
For cocktails, seek out the secret entrances Hihou and Trinket, sneak down Malthouse Lane to Eau de Vie, or Higson Lane to GoGo. Bean hunters, grab your coffee from Dukes at Ross House.
For more cafes, bars and boutiques, turn into Centre Place and Degraves Street.
Rest weary laneway legs at the City Library and neighbouring cafe Journal, or stop for the night at the laneway hotel with the coolest pool, the Adelphi.

Explore Melbourne : Hosier Lane - Melbourne - 4K Ultra HD
Hosier Lane is a bluestone cobbled vehicular and pedestrian laneway on the southern edge of the central city grid. Hosier lane is a much celebrated landmark mainly due to its sophisticated Urban art.
Hosier Lane lies opposite the entrance to the Atrium at Federation Square on Flinders St, a prominent position in the city.
The lane has been noted for the quality and the often political nature of its art.It features in the state-sponsored book The Melbourne Design Guide and in Tourism Victoria's Lose Yourself in Melbourne advertising campaign, leading to questions about the dichotomy of Victoria's approach to graffiti. The graffiti-covered walls and art-installations have become a popular backdrop for fashion and wedding photography.
Hosier Lane is also known for its upmarket cocktail lounges including the popular Misty and MoVida. An open air cooking session with MoVida's chef Frank Camorra on Masterchef Australia season 2 showcased the lane as a major Melbourne attraction.

Ricoh GR | Street Photography in Melbourne
For this episode I thought I’d take a brief trip into Melbourne's CBD with my tiny Ricoh GR to tour some of the iconic laneways early in the morning. Some street, some urban, a delivery van and pretty much all rubbish early morning photography for your viewing pleasure!
You'll see all the results, even the terrible ones!

Melbourne 4K - Walking through Smoke filled Melbourne CBD - Summer 2020
The smoke from the Australian bushfires blanketed the city of Melbourne with a haze on Monday 6th Jan 2020. The Environmental Protection Agency issued a health warning and air quality reached very poor to hazardous levels in the city. I decided to go for a walk through the city to capture this moment in time. Having lived in Melbourne for 20 years I've never experienced anything like this. There was a thick haze in the air which obscured many skyscrapers and just a generally unsettling feeling. Although not so noticeable on ground level the sky was grey with smoke and it was difficult to breathe. In this walk I passed through Bourke Street Mall, Chinatown, Lonsdale St & down to Flinders street station.

Explore Melbourne : Degraves Street - An Iconic Melbourne Place - 4K
#melbournestreetview #degraves #melbourne #melbournewalk
A vibrant hotspot loved by tourists and locals alike, Degraves Street is a quintessential Melbourne laneway.
Here, you will find many things the locals hold dear: street art, year-round alfresco dining, quirky boutiques and a buzzing atmosphere.
Take some time to explore the explosion of tiny shops, hole-in-the wall cafes and European-style restaurants crammed along its hundred-metre length.
Why it’s called Degraves Street ?
The street is named after pioneering merchants William and Charles Degraves who built a steam-driven flour mill on the site in 1851. The Degraves underpass (Campbell Arcade) was then built in 1955, connecting Flinders Street station seamlessly to the laneway itself. Take a quick detour into its subterranean depths and discover an abundance of off-beat shops and artworks.

Flinders Street railway station
place:
Flinders Street railway station is a railway station on the corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It serves the entire metropolitan rail network. Backing onto the city reach of the Yarra River in the heart of the city, the complex covers two whole city blocks and extends from Swanston Street to Queen Street.
Flinders Street is served by Metro's suburban services, and V/Line regional services to Gippsland. It is the busiest station on Melbourne's metropolitan network and the busiest railway station in Australia, with over 77,153 daily entries recorded in the 2017/18 fiscal year. It was the first railway station in an Australian city and the world's busiest passenger station in the late 1920s.
The main station building, completed in 1909, is a cultural icon of Melbourne. The art nouveau style building, with its prominent dome, arched entrance, tower and clocks is one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. It is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The Melburnian saying I'll meet you under the clocks refers to the row of clocks above the main entrance, which indicate the time-tabled time of departure for trains on each line; another saying, I'll meet you on the steps, refers to the wide staircase underneath these clocks. Flinders Street Station is responsible for two of Melbourne's busiest pedestrian crossings, both across Flinders Street, including one of Melbourne's few pedestrian scrambles.
Listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, the station has Australia's longest platform which is 708-metres long and is also the fourth longest railway platform in the world.

Federation Square
place:
Federation Square is a venue for arts, culture and public events on the edge of the Melbourne central business district. It covers an area of 3.2 ha (7.9 acres) at the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets built above busy railway lines and across the road from Flinders Street station. It incorporates major cultural institutions such as the Ian Potter Centre, ACMI and the Koorie Heritage Trust as well as cafes and bars in a series of buildings centred around a large paved square, and a glass walled atrium.
