Acclaim X OAKLEY present: The Spot – Melbourne Museum
In case you're unaware, the legends over at Oakley are bringing an all-star lineup of international skaters to Sydney for a residency. Eric Koston, Curren Caples, and Sean Malto are all heading downunder to spearhead a series of events celebrating all things skate from November 5 to 29.
To get into the spirit of things we turned to the local scene to explore some of our iconic skate spots, investigating their legacies and reflecting on what they mean for the local community. We're kicking things off in Melbourne, where we linked with skate stalwart Anthony Mapstone to talk about the world renowned Melbourne Museum. A skate destination since the late '90s, the museum is a mecca for skaters locally and internationally. With buttery concrete, huge gaps, and ledges — some serious sessions have gone down at the spot.
Filmed by Nathan Tonkin, with archival footage courtesy of Chris Middlebrook, Geoff Campbell, James James, and Leigh Bolton.
