Our vision is for Melbourne to be seen as the music capital of Australia. In June 2014, we adopted the Melbourne Music Strategy 2014-17, a three year plan for how the City of Melbourne will engage with and support the industry to achieve this vision.

Best known for its funky street art, hidden bars, man buns and of course, live music.
With over 60,000 live gigs annually, it is no surprise that Melbourne has been labelled as the music capital of Australia. The city boasts at least 460 live music venues and live music contributes more than a $1billion to the Victorian economy per annum.
This project was created by digital marketing students from The Australian Institute of Music.
Over the past ten weeks, the group members have put their hearts into working towards this final product; a video that paints a vibrant and fast-paced snapshot of Melbourne's live music scene.
Along with the video, social networking sites have been used to give a behind the scenes look into what went into making this project happen.

One of Europe's most innovative temporary architectural installations, KUBIK is constructed from interconnected, glowing water tanks that change colour in response to music.
KUBIK Melbourne illuminates Birrarung Marr for the duration of the festival -- functioning as a futuristic, French-inspired cafe by day, and a fully licensed venue by night.

Here is a short video showing off our latest trip to Melbourne Australia.
Melbourne is an incredible city. We spent three days there before heading into the outback ((Not the outback... classic London tourists getting over excited!)) to explore what Australia had to offer. After a week of seeing waterfalls, long empty roads to nowhere and some taking on some some incredible treks, we then heading back to the city taking the beautiful drive along The Great Ocean road where we witnessed some of the most beautiful coastland and beaches.

Melbourne has long been heralded as the cultural capital of Australia, and that rings especially true when it comes to electronic music. An overflowing pool of artists, dozens of hardworking promoters and supportive local authorities have helped build a thriving, tight-knit music community.
Through looking inward, a diverse range of voices have been responsible for finding and expressing a strong musical identity and a distinctly Australian thread that runs through a vast array of sounds and styles.
A decade-long freeze on new late-night liquor licenses in inner Melbourne has meant the loss of some key music venues hasn’t been offset with new openings, putting pressure on the club scene to do more with less. Australia’s isolation from the rest of the world also brings a concern of artists reaching a ceiling in terms of what they’re able to achieve at home, with plenty of big names feeling a need to move to Europe in recent years to further their careers. Our second Real Scenes film Down Under looks at the ups and downs within a faraway city that’s making a big impact all across the global music scene.
