Having filmed this vlog, I actually abandoned it when first looking back at the footage. It didn't feel as though enough was said or shown. Then I made a full U-turn and recovered it into what it is today! Follow our quick and impromptu street photography mission around Melbourne's laneways in the CBD. Showing the final photos and settings used to capture them, I hope it inspires you to go out and shoot too!

Melbourne Photography Vlog - 150 Photos of melbourne + banter
Melbourne Photography Vlog - 150 Photos of melbourne + banter!
Heres a little montage of the photos I took on a trip to Melbourne last week, where I got to test out the new 24-70mm 2.8 Sigma lens that I got.
Let me know your favourite photos?
Melbourne By Night
Even though I used to work in Melbourne, I'm lucky to visit the big smoke once a year! But I found myself in the City for a family occasion, so I just happened to take the camera with me to capture some amazing shots of the city by night.
Once the sun falls, Melbourne takes on a new life altogether! The smells of gourmet food cooking, the sounds of everyone enjoying after-work drinks, the sounds of trains/cars/people talking - it all adds to the atmosphere. But then the lights come on! Office lights, transportation lights, decorative lights - the place looks amazing! If you haven't been to Melbourne after dusk, make sure you see it at least once, it's really worth the trip!
One new piece of equipment with me on this trip was a newly-acquired 3-stop graduated neutral density filter! Brett from fotosharp.com.au kindly sent me one down to add to my kit of Nisi Filters - he must have been sick of me bracketing images :) :) But seriously, I'd never used a graduated ND filter until this one, and I must say it is brilliant! I can't believe how much more you can take control of what the camera captures in a single exposure.
Anyways, thanks again for watching guys and girls and I really hope you enjoy the video. As I mentioned, if there's any locations in Victoria you'd like to see me shoot, please let me know in the comments below. Or if you have any feedback whatsoever, just send it through :)
Cheers,
Simon

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Melbourne, Australia
Beautiful beaches, quirky wildlife, spa towns, and spectacular wilderness areas - you'll find all this and more within a few hours' drive of Melbourne. One of the country's most dazzling scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road, lies less than 200 kilometers from the city, as well as gorgeous Grampian National Park, the gleaming white-sand shores of Wilsons Promontory, and the rugged Dandenong Ranges. Wildlife scores top billing at many of these city escapes. You can watch penguins parading up a pristine beach at Phillip Island and commune with colorful parrots, wild kangaroos, and wombats in the national parks. In addition to the rich natural beauty that beckons just a short drive from the CBD, Victoria's elegant seaside resorts charm visitors with their quaint shops, art galleries, and award-winning restaurants. History buffs can explore an old gold rush town, and in winter, skiers and snowboarders can carve up the slopes of Mount Buller less than a three-hour drive from the city. Here five day trips from melbourne, victoria.
1. Great Ocean Road
2. Phillip Island's Penguin Parade
3 The Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley

The Epic Melbourne Road Trip — Great Ocean Road, The Otways, Grampians | The Travel Intern
Recently, we challenged one of our teams to come up with THE ULTIMATE road trip around Victoria, Australia. No epic road trip around Victoria is complete with places like Great Ocean Road, Grampians, Yarra and Otway!
Check out what we did in this 8-day itinerary for Victoria's best adventures:
MELBOURNE
00:20 - Hosier Lane
Experience street art like never before in this culturally rich street, critically acclaimed for their urban art.
00:24 - Eureka Skydeck
Get to the highest observatory in the southern hemisphere to catch a breathtaking panoramic sunset.
00:30 - Queen Victoria Market
A food market with a huge variety of dishes sure to satisfy everybody's taste palates.
00:37 - Yarra Valley
Enjoy the famous Australian wine during your food gourmet tour.
00:44 - Brighton Beach
Whip your cameras out for photo opportunities at the colourful bathing boxes!
THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD
01:02 - Gibson Steps
Connect with nature at this coastline, well-known for the many cliffs in the sea.
01:13 - 12 Apostles
Another site well-known for their limestone structure.
01:26 - Loch Ard Gorge
We highly recommend trekking some of the trails here where you can learn about the rich history of various rock stacks like the Razorbacks.
01:31 - The Grotto
This was our personal favourite along the Great Ocean Road!
01:37 - London Bridge
The two pieces of land used to be connected but has since been eroded.
01:41 - The Arch
Forming a mini waterfall in the sea, this place is super breathtaking!
GRAMPIANS
01:55 - The Balconies
Also known as Jaws of Death because the structure resembles the jaws of a T-rex, The Balconies offer a panoramic view of the lush mountains.
02:04 - Mackenzie Falls
Visit one of Victoria's largest waterfalls. Don't end your adventure just there! Take a one kilometre walk to Bluff Lookout or down a steep trail down to the base of the waterfall for killer views!
02:15 - Reeds Lookout
Enjoy a sunset over the mountains and one of the best scenic views of Victoria Valley.
02:25 — 02:33 - Grand Canyon, The Pinnacle
Hike up The Pinnacle via The Grand Canyon. Again, photo opportunities are everywhere!
THE OTWAYS
02:48 - Hopetoun Falls
If you're not in a rush for time, we recommend the 30 minutes return route to the base of the waterfall to catch spectacular sights of Hopetoun Falls.
02:54 - California Redwoods
Sequoia trees towering over all of us, it was quite a sight to behold. Great stopover place for lunch!

Today we are going to track down the best instagram spots for you guys in Melbourne
Come join us on our adventure. Let's go!
Hosier Lane is a great place to come for taking photos so you will see dozens of people
or sometimes hundreds of people down here taking photos
So you will see alot of foreigners here, travellers coming to take a look
also people even getting married and taking their wedding photos here
because there is just so much street art everywhere
so colourful, vibrant
so for backgrounds on instagram it really pops and makes you stand out
Hi Guys, i've got an incredible grafitti just right behind me here
the reason why you need to come here is because you can kill two birds with one stone
so you take a picture in front of this grafitti
which has actually lots of trains over there on the top of the grafitti
and also you can go into the restaurant which is called easeys
you can go into the restaurant and have yummy burgers in a train track
let's check it out
Easeys is a really good place not just for burgers and having a beer
but it's a great place to take some photos with the beautiful train grafitti backdrop
so come up here take in the views and take some photos
Melbourne has some quirky places to visit and Easeys is definitely one on the list you must tick off
The view from the rooftop is awesome and a great place to take some photos
You can take photos of the views or portraits with the train carriages in the background
Then take a short walk to the infamous George Costanza mural in Fitzroy.
It's painted just outside Georges bar which is a bar dedicated to george costanza from Seinfeld
strike a pose or two or maybe even a few dozen
It's great for fans of pop culture and another great spot for Instagramers
The great thing about Fitzroy is that just about every street corner has some remarkable murals and street art to use as a backdrop for your instagram posts
Melbourne is an urban city
not only can you see beautiful architecture all over the city
but also you can see this
there are lots of girls who would like to be kim kardashian
so you could see all those Melbourne people who are like that
also don't forget to take a picture with the Kim Kardashian sisters
Now Take a leisurely stroll down southbank and make sure to have your camera out ready to capture the beautiful views along the yarra river
It's a relaxing place to take some selfies and portaits for Instagram.
Here Rachel and I took a fair few for our social media accounts. Make sure to follow our instagram for behind the scenes on our filming adventures
Now back in the city centre theres some beautiful arches at the H and M building on bourke st
I walked around taking many fun selfies which can look great here either day or night
Here we are at centre place in the middle of Melbourne
and this place is really good for some instagram photos
as you can see there's a lot happening behind me
alot of cafes, bars, a really good place for some instagram phtos
Centre way has a vibrant vibe and is filled with cafes and eateries.
The clock and tower in Melbourne Central is a popular meeting place in Melbourne.
It's also really good for taking photos with the view of the tower from below really quite breathtaking
