Melbourne (Yarra River) & Port Philip Bay Cruise to (Williamstown) (Gem Pier) - Part 4/4
Join me on this exciting Yarra River Boat Cruise continuing towards the Williamstown Gem Pier ( Melbourne Australia) January 2019.
Gem Pier is an historic pier on Port Phillip Bay, in Williamstown, Victoria, Australia. The pier is 145 metres (476 ft) in length and is currently home to the (Williamstown ship museum) - HMAS Castlemaine and Melbourne Seaplanes.
The first pier was built in 1839 near the present-day Gem Pier. Originally known as The Jetty, in 1853 it was renamed Old Pier following the construction of the New Pier (the Ann Street Pier). Throughout the 1860s and 1870s it was known as Steamboat Pier. In the 1870s it was renamed Gem Pier after the paddle steamer Gem that ran a ferry service from Williamstown to Port Melbourne from 1846 to 1886.
The pier was rebuilt in 1992.

Williamstown, Australia (Aerial Drone FHD)
A maritime village located just 9km from Melbourne. Williamstown’s history is evident in its heritage buildings and streetscapes although some of that history has been lost, as buildings were demolished to make way for new development. In the 1950s, the historic Langhorne bluestone wool store in Nelson Place was demolished by the former Housing Commission of Victoria.

2 Jan 2011. Shirley & Curly take a seaplane from Williamstown for Curly's (July) birthday: over St Kilda and the Pier; over the Middle Brighton Sea Baths; past the bathing boxes at Brighton; over the Sandy Yacht Club; around the partially submerged submarine at Half Moon Bay; back up the coastline and over Albert Park; over the MCG; Government House; the CBD; Docklands; over our Spotswood home; past the Newport Port Station; and back among the boats on the shimmering waters of Williamstown. Magnificent!

Williamstown is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 9 km south-west of Melbourne's central business district in the local government area of the City of Hobsons Bay. At the 2011 census, Williamstown had a population of 13,203.
Williamstown is approximately 15 minutes by car from Melbourne via the West Gate Freeway or a 30-minute train journey from Flinders Street Station. Ferries from Melbourne's Southgate Arts & Leisure Precinct take approximately 1-hour.
Williamstown is also the main town where the Australian Television Program Blue Heelers was filmed.
Williamstown is located at the mouth of the Yarra River where it enters Hobsons Bay and Port Phillip, south-west of the Melbourne city centre.
Originally Melbourne's first sea port, Williamstown has developed from what was a neglected industrialised centre into a popular and fashionable maritime village.
Williamstown's attractive main commercial precinct is located along Ferguson Street and Douglas Parade. Around the corner in Nelson Place is what was originally the town centre, lined with historic buildings which are now restaurants, hotels and galleries.
Williamstown is surrounded on three sides by water. The eastern shoreline consists of foreshore reserves dotted with piers, gardens and remnants of Williamstown's maritime history. Scenic views of Melbourne's city skyline can be enjoyed from Gem Pier where cruises on the Yarra River and the bay depart regularly.

Its been awhile since my last vlog. Been busy with work. And since i have a short break, this episode will shows where i go around Melbourne.
- Brighton beach bathhouses
Thank you to one of my friend Tiffany for helping me shooting some footage while at the beach.
- St.kilda Pier to see small cute little penguins, which took me almost an hour there. Its so challenging thinking of the freezing cold wind blow. If you are lucky enough, you can see some of the dolphins swimming around the pier, which i may be the one.
- Early dinner at Rice Paper Scissors. This place is really recommended. The food is so yummy and the place is not too spacious but yet very cozy. Please be there earlier or else you will need to queue for at least 1 hour after the first batch of customers.
I choose 2 for aud $60 set menu, which allows u to choose 5 dishes from the menu. Those in video are absolutely recommended. Very nice and yummy. Trust me! And visited the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market, which only open every wednesday evening during winter season.
