Melukote in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, Karnataka, in southern India, is one of the sacred places in Karnataka. The place is also known as Thirunarayanapuram. It is built on rocky hills, known as Yadugiri, Yaadavagiri and Yadushailadeepa, overlooking the Cauvery valley. Melukote is about 51 km from Mysore and 133 km from Bangalore. Melukote is the location of the Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple, with a collection of crowns and jewels which are brought to the temple for the annual celebration. On the top of the hill is the temple of Yoganarasimha. Many more shrines and ponds are located in the town. Melukote is home to the Academy of Sanskrit Research, which has collected thousands of Vedic and Sanskrit manuscripts.Early in the 12th century, the famous Srivaishnava saint Sri Ramanujacharya, who hailed from Tamil Nadu, stayed at Melukote for about 12 years. Melukote-Dhanuskoti-Wildlife-Sanctuary There is a beautiful Wildlife sanctuary in Melukote. This is a large area at great hight on the mountain. There are many parts of this sanctuary such as special gardens, sapta rishi vana, ashoka vana, rasi vana, naksatra vana, nandana vana, various view points, temples etc. The extreme end of the sanctuary is a mountain cliff called Dhanuskoti. It is a marvelous place with astounding views. We also climbed on the cliff and took a lot of pictures.
Melukote-Raya-Gopura Melukote is a beautiful piligrim center about 150 kms from Bangalore. It is famous for Yoga Narasimha Swamy temple, Cheluve Narayana temple, Satya Narayana temple and many other temples. These pictures are taken at Raya Gopura about half km south to Cheluve Narayana temple. This is a beautiful structure of a huge ”gopura“ (or entrance) made of stone.

From the temple tank Kalyani you can take a walk through the steps to reach Yoga narasimha swamy temple. Otherwise you can drive half the way and take the steps towards the end. The temple is at a hight of 1780 meters. We could feel extremely cold bleeze even in summer season. As it is at a great height we could get good views of the sorroundings from the temple.

Melukote in Karnataka: A Land with a Rich Heritage
Melukote is located in the Mandya district of Karnataka. It is considered a highly sacred place in South India. Melukote lies at a distance of 51 kms from Mysore and 133 kms from Bangalore. It is in the Pandavapura taluka and famous for the Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple.
It is believed that the saint Ramanuja stayed here for 12 years and it thus became a prominent location for Brahmins.

Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple: It is the most important temple in Mandya. Dedicated to Lord Cheluva-Narayana Swamy, the temple is also frequented by the Kings of Mysore. The temple has an exquisite collection of the jewels. There are three crowns presented to the temple which are kept in safe custody and brought out on special occasions.
It is located on the top of the Yadugiri hills and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. People belonging to the Vaishnava community consider it an important shrine. The Goddess in the temple is Yadugiri Nachiyar.

Mandya Flower show 2018 || Flower show at Cauvery Vana Mandya
The Departments of Horticulture, Agriculture and Fisheries together have organised a five-day Mandya Flower Show from 01 Nov 2018 at Cauvery Vana and at the premises of District Horticulture Department Mandya. The Mandya Flower Show is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm with cultural programmes from 6.30 pm to 9 pm by local talents. The Show has different types of flowering plants, stalls exhibiting various products, food joints and information zone on organic farming and horticulture variants. Also included are sand sculptures of the Doyen of Horticulture Dr. M.H. Marigowda and Lord Anjaneya, carved vegetables, millet fair, demo of new agricultural practices, apiculture and many more informative joints. Special attractions include floral replicas of butterfly, peacock, elephant, guitar and tabla along with bonsai collection, hydroponics and fountains. The entry fee for Mandya Flowershow is free for school students, Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children.
