A manhunt continues for suspects in a fatal shooting that left two women dead in Melville, Johannesburg.
Police have denied reports of a third death.
Six other people who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident are still hospitalised

It was a bloody start to 2020 as two women were killed and six people injured in a drive-by shooting in Melville, Johannesburg, in the early hours of New Year's Day. CCTV captured the incident.

WATCH | Shootout outside Lonehill home in Johannesburg, no injuries reported
Police are on the hunt for four men following a shootout in Lonehill, Johannesburg on Sunday.
Police can confirm that a case of attempted robbery was opened at Douglasdale police station following an incident, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters told News24.

Melville shooting I Police will not reveal deceased identities yet
Police will not reveal the identities of the two women killed at Poppy's Restaurant in Melville, Johannesburg, on New Year's Day. They say it'll be concealed until their investigations are concluded. The two had died in a hail of bullets in the early hours of New Year's Day. Six others had been injured in the shooting incident. They're being treated in hospital.

UPDATE: Lesufi visits Melville shooting wounded patients
Acting Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi visits patients wounded during the shooting incidents in Melville and Newtown in Johannesburg in the early hours of New Year's Day. Two women were killed and six others wounded during a drive-by shooting outside a restaurant in Melville. Hours later eleven people were wounded at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown. It's believed the shooter fired several shots from the upper level of the M2 double-decker bridge onto the crowds. No arrests have been made. Melville residents mourn victims of New Year’s Day shooting
A prayer service for the victims of the New Year's Day shooting in Mellville - Johannesburg has started.
Two people died on the scene and six others were hospitalised after a drive-by shooting.
Police are refusing to reveal the identities of the two women killed in the incident until their investigations are concluded.
The tragedy dampened the excitement of ushering in a new decade.
