a lovely trip to merritt island park in welland ontario canada on april 12, 2011
linda, harry and clyde go for a stroll down memory lane remembering how we all bumped into each other over the past ten years.
our hopes and dreams and how harry and I used to come here when single and wish we could find our soulmates
i did a lot of praying and soul searching on this island and it was my favorite place to go for a good cry when I was down or feeling blue about a failed relationship
there's just something so comforting about being close to nature when you go through some rough or good times.
great for exercise you can see the sign with the different moves you can make, leg and back stretches.
many love to go rollerblading and biking on here. great place to take your dog (on a leash) and there's a playground for the kiddies to enjoy.
in the summer and fall there are many cultural events (food, dance, music, kids crafts, ymca day camps) on the island.
It's one of the main tourist attractions.
the river shown was formerly the fourth welland canal before the bypass was built in the 80s? (im not exactly sure about its date)
it's fun to watch the jet skis, water skiers, speed boats or do some fishing by the white bridge that connects merritt island to cross street (off of main street east)
it's about 5 minutes from the welland bus terminal on east main st.

Got some video on memorial park flying around the the ST Lawrence canal and happen to see a boat going through.
The Seaway system is connected by 5 short canals. They include 15 locks, filled and emptied by gravity.
The Welland Ship Canal is part of the St. Lawrence Seaway, that connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean and is used by ships to by-pass Niagara Falls. These ships carry cargo and passengers.

Wellington County Museum | Poor House Cemetery Exhibit
This outdoor exhibit explores the stories of the men, women and children that lived and died at the County of Wellington's House of Industry and Refuge.
One hundred and thirty-six years after the Poorhouse burial ground received its first burial (1877), the Cemetery officially opened as an interpretive site and outdoor exhibit of the Wellington County Museum and Archives. It is here that 271 men, woman and children who lived and died at the Poorhouse between 1877 and 1946 are being honoured.

The peaceful Queenston Heights Park is located high atop the Niagara Escarpment, greeting visitors with exquisite gardens and vegetation. This park, filled with rich history, is a sanctuary for outdoor lovers and nature enthusiasts. It has been and it continues to be used by hikers, those with a passion for gardens and nature, as well as picnickers, runners and walkers.
This park was the site of the famous Battle of Queenston Heights in October of 1812, when Sir Isaac Brock fell while planning a charge on the American Forces. Commemorating the roles of both Laura Secord and Sir Isaac Brock in the War of 1812 are two memorials in this landscaped park on the Niagara Escarpment.
The Park has spectacular views of the lower Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and, on a clear day, the Toronto skyline in the distance. Parks Canada oversees the operation of Brock's Monument and also has a walking tour of the historic sites associated with this important battleground.

ABANDONED GENERAL HOSPITAL (HUMAN ORGANS FOUND)
My first attempt at an Urban Exploration video. For the past year I've been exploring Southern Ontario for abandoned places to explore and I thought I'd share this one. It was a golden opportunity and a rare find, as I was actually born in this hospital and It's quite amazing to see what it turned into. Also i found some bodily fluids and organs in the autopsy room as you'll see in this video.
If people find this video interesting I will continue to post some of the best abandoned places that I come across. Enjoy :)

Power Canal Bridge
