some of the attractions around the area
including the world's largest horse clock

the Memorial Peace Park acts as a
central point in Maple Ridge surrounded
by civic buildings including the public
library some city offices and RCMP
buildings as well as the ACT Arts Center
which is a beautiful theater here in
Maple Ridge as well as the leisure
center which includes the pool and
exercise area but it's currently under
renovation

as you're walking around downtown you
can also check out the Haney Heritage
Tour which had includes signs on light
posts which point out local spots of
interest this one talks about the second
municipal hall and also police in BC and
this is number 10 so look for more of
these sign posts around the area and
learn more about maple ridge
0:02:44 - 0:02:50
it looks like somebody's added on some
happy googly eyes to this this very
0:02:51 - 0:03:15
over here we have the
bandstand which was gifted to the people
of the city by the maple ridge concert
band in 1980 1994 check out some of the
cool there's some really cool stained
glass right up in the top there as well
as it's a pretty interesting weather
vane as well it looks like the shape of
a bird or dove
0:03:36 - 0:04:00
downtown Maple Ridge has also started to
work with the back alley mural project
to help decorate some of the blank
spaces in the area and right here we
have an amazing bald eagle directly
across look at this
0:04:06 - 0:04:25
inside the library for a minute
a pretty awesome paper whale
and there's also a really cool geocache
in the area which may lead to one of
these aisles and I won't tell you
exactly where
0:04:28 - 0:04:34
here it is the world's largest horse clock
0:04:35 - 0:05:10
the horse itself was actually built out
of aluminum and recycled parts and up
until a few years ago it would actually
rear up and move on the hour
unfortunately due to disrepair it
doesn't do that any longer because this
was actually constructed in the 80s it
was originally run by a Commodore 64 as
the engine but for now the world's
largest horse clock sits still
0:05:10 - 0:05:58
there's a backstory I'll put a
link to to the backstory in the in the
description below but basically the
horse clock represents a battle that
happened between mother nature and people
mother nature was concerned that people
were using too much technology and
creating too much pollution and so she
had a battle with the people this horse
the Beast joined mother nature in that
battle as it used to run through the
plains in this area unfortunately the
Beast was wounded in the battle but as a
reminder to the people and a warning to the people
mother nature constructed this horse on
this place to remind people of the
dangers of technology and pollution so
check it out below
0:05:58 - 0:06:14
and there it is the world's largest horse clock and if you
