Mena Arkansas
Mena, Arkansas, county seat of Polk County, was founded by Arthur Edward Stilwell during the building of the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad (now the Kansas City Southern) in 1896. It was Stilwell who decided Mena would be the name of this new town along the route to Port Arthur, Texas.
The city of Mena is the gateway to some of the most visited tourist attractions in Arkansas. An estimated 1.2 million visitors each year come to Mena for these natural features. Features include the Talimena Scenic Drive, which is a National Scenic Byway and Queen Wilhelmina State Park. The Cossatot River is a member of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System and runs through the Ouachita National Forest. Lake Ouachita is also in the vicinity.

Mena was founded by Arthur Edward Stilwell during the building of the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad (now the Kansas City Southern), which stretched from Kansas City, Missouri to Port Arthur, Texas. Train service to Mena began in 1896.
Stilwell named the town in honor of Folmina Margaretha Janssen-De Goeijen, the wife of his friend and financier Jan De Goeijen, whom Mr. De Goeijen affectionately called Mena. Janssen Park in the center of Mena is also named for her.
Mena was settled in 1896, and incorporated on September 18, 1896.
In 1897, the Bank of Mena was founded. The following year, the county seat was moved from nearby Dallas, Arkansas to Mena.
Mena's population had grown to 3,423 by 1900.
The town's main industries were timber, agriculture and mineral extraction, though it was advertised as a spa city located within a healthy environment.
Stilwell donated land to the city in 1906, and a park and campground were constructed.
In 1910, the railroad moved its shop facilities from Mena to Heavener, Oklahoma, causing a loss of 800 jobs.
A private school in Mena, Hendrix Academy, closed in 1905.
In 1911, a damaging tornado struck the town.

Adventures by Amtrak (6) - Texarkana, Jefferson, Atlanta, Marshall, and Longview, TX
1) Rail that I've never seen before until this trip due to timing. I think we crossed over the KCS rail, and then paralleled an abandoned stretch of rail. 6/20/14
2) Slowly creeping through a small town in Texas north of Jefferson before quickly getting back to speed. 6/20/14
3) I believe this is Atlanta, TX. I wasn't on the side of the post office and train station to verify. 6/20/14
4) Beautiful lakes that I hadn't seen until this trip. 6/20/14
5) UP Freight passing us...in what appears to be a massive close-up because of my camera's distance from the window. As it turns out, we stop at MHL station. 6/20/14
6) A chance to look at the line to Shreveport, LA that starts in Marshall. 6/20/14
7) It appears UP is creating a third track. I noticed it on the way up to Ohio, but didn't think to hit record. Also, a UP freight for good measure. 6/20/14
8-10) At LVW Station, with the train's departure. 6/20/14

Very nice 3-story railroad station building in Creston, Iowa
Friday, January 27, 2017, 1:57 PM. Creston, Iowa has a great old train depot building and a hotel called the Iowana. Here's a sort of random look at both of them (at least the hotel's sign) and a DPU locomotive on a BNSF coal train that's about to head out.

Kent Hovind - Seminar 2 - The Garden of Eden [MULTISUBS]
SUBTITLES:
Afrikaans, Albanian, Chinese_CS, Chinese_CT, Croatian, Danish, English, Estonian, French, German, Hebrew, Indonesian, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil (available soon)
The Garden of Eden describes the earth as it was before the worldwide flood, how it was possible for man to live over 900 years, for plants and animals to grow much larger than today and for dinosaurs to thrive along with man
Also discussed are faulty theories such as the Gap Theory and the Day Age Theory and how these relate to the original creation. While answering questions about pre-flood oxygen and hyperbaric chambers, about giants and cave men, and about pre-flood diets, Dr. Hovind gives assurance that the Bible can be trusted as an accurate account of historical and scientific events.
