Montemor-o-Novo is a Portuguese city, in the District of Évora, in the middle of Alentejo.
Calm and quiet region but with an important place in national history. Here D. Manuel I decided to have the sea route discovered for India. It was also an important stage of battles with a great capacity of resistance.
The whole surrounding region owns great natural beauties, a zone of water and electric use, possessing several dams, land where simplicity reigns.

The region also has a rich archaeological heritage, including megalithic monuments such as Menires da Pedra Longa, Anta da Comenda da Igreja, Anta dos Tourais, Anta da Velada, Anta de São Brissose and the fantastic Cave of Escoural.
The region's handicrafts highlight works of basketry, leather and skin and the famous liquor of poejo.
