On This Day 68 Years Ago
Upon the 3rd. September....
This is of course to historians remains one of the most important days of modern times.
It was many years ago that I first heard this address from Mr. Chamberlain & even as I was editing this historical piece of audio history I felt sadness for a fine man who tried to do what he thought was right, a fellow who thought appeasement was the best course of action to take with Herr Hitler, a good man was broken by this speech in my opinion, one can tell by the inflections in his voice. Mr. Chamberlain passed away in November the following year.
Also in this audio Australia's longest serving Prime Minister announces to the nation in a somewhat more vigorous & confident manner, his & others support at the geneses of The Second World War.
Mr. Menzies was PM for a total of over eighteen years.
Hope some find these recordings interesting. After all we can only rely on the past & the present to take our lead from into the future.
