Mie Meoto Iwa - 夫婦岩 - 4K Ultra HD
Mie Meoto Iwa - 夫婦岩 - 4K Ultra HD : Located off the shores of Futami city in Mie and just 10km away from Ise Grand Shrine, Meoto Iwa (also known as the Married Couple Rocks), are a couple of small rocks sitting peacefully.
According to the Shinto Futami Okitama Jinja (二見興玉神社), the rocks represent the union of the creators of Izanagi-no-Okami (God), represented by the larger rock and Izanami-no-Mikoto (Goddess), by the smaller and more delicate rock. Link together by a rope, these two rocks symbolize the union in marriage between a man and a woman.
It is also interesting to note that the rope linking both rocks can weigh up to a ton and need to be replaced several times a year during a dedicated ceremony organized by the Futami Okitama Jinja. Finally if you plan to visit Meoto Iwa it is, according to the locals, advisable to come in summer and early in the morning to fully enjoy the sun rising between the two rocks.
Also note that the video above was taken on the same day, first at 6am during high tide, and then at 2pm during low tide.

???????? Ise Jingu and Futami Meoto Iwa Mie - Amazing Travel! (HD)
Trip to Ise city in Mie Prefecture visitng Ise Jingu and Meoto Iwa in Futami.
Ise (伊勢市 Ise-shi?), formerly called Ujiyamada (宇治山田), is a city located in eastern Mie Prefecture, on the island of Honshū, Japan.
Ise is home to Ise Grand Shrine, the most sacred Shintō Shrine in Japan, and is thus a very popular destination for tourists. The city has a long-standing nickname—Shinto (神都)—that roughly means The Holy City and literally means Capital of the Kami). It is part of Ise-Shima National Park.

Ise Jingu -Grand Shrine-
Ise Grand Shrine (Ise Jingū) is a Shinto shrine dedicated to goddess Amaterasu-ōmikami, located in the city of Ise in Mie prefecture, Japan. Officially known simply as Jingū , Ise Jingū is in fact a shrine complex composed of a large number of Shinto shrines centered on two main shrines, Naikū and Gekū .
The Inner Shrine, Naikū (also officially known as Kotai Jingu), is located in the town of Uji-tachi, south of central Ise City, and is dedicated to the worship of Amaterasu-ōmikami. The Outer Shrine, Gekū (also officially known as Toyouke Daijingu), is located about six kilometers from Naikū and dedicated to Toyouke no ōmikami, the deity of agriculture and industry. Besides Naikū and Gekū, there are an additional 123 Shinto shrines in Ise City and the surrounding areas, 91 of them connected to Naikū and 32 to Gekū.
Purportedly the home of the Sacred Mirror, the shrine is arguably one of Shinto's holiest and most important sites. Access to both sites is strictly limited, with the common public allowed to see little more than the thatched roofs of the central structures, hidden behind four tall wooden fences. The high priest or priestess of Ise Shrine must come from the Japanese imperial family, and is responsible for watching over the Shrine.
The two main shrines of Ise are joined by a pilgrimage road that passes through the old entertainment district of Furuichi. The region around the shrines consists of the Ise-Shima National Park and numerous other holy and historic sites including the 'wedded rocks' Meoto Iwa, and the Saiku (the site of the Heian period imperial residence).

Journey In Japan - Return To Ise 「伊勢に帰る」
*:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:READ ME:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*
This video is a condensed version of my return trip to Ise in 2013. I think it captures my trip as a whole very well.
For those of you who don't know, I went to Japan in 2011 and stayed in Ise for a one month homestay through the LABO organization.
This past summer, I returned to Ise for 5 1/2 weeks on my own to reunite with my family and friends.
The people you see in this video are the same people you've watched in my videos two years ago, with a few new additions.
I'm curious to see if you can recognize some of them. ^^
This video is my baby and I've been working on it for a while, trying to chose the clips that best captured my second homestay.
It's very near and dear to my heart, and I get very emotional when I watch it.
It was difficult enough leaving these people two years ago, and the second goodbye was twice as hard.
Many of my LABO friends will be off to university or to other parts of Japan when I return again, so this video is my way of freezing time.
Watching it takes me back to Ise, back to my friends, and back to my home.

Sunset at Meoto Iwa (Married Rocks) Soundscape - Ise, Japan
夫婦岩, Two rocks near Ise, Japan that are joined by a heavy rope made of rice straw. This rope is replaced several times a year. The rocks represent the union of marriage and is featured in the N64 Game, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. This is a short video showing the rocks at sunset. I love the pink-crested waves.
