Puerto de Mogan - Market - Gran Canaria - May 2018
Puerto Mogán on a Friday is the island's biggest outdoor market with stalls all along through the town and along the harbour wall.
There's hundreds of stalls selling everything from embroidery to fresh fruit and vegetables and you're bound to find something to take home. Combine it with lunch in the marina or a day on the beach and it's a great Gran Canaria day out.
We always recommend getting to the market early to avoid the crowds, especially if you drive and need parking.

Mogán is the second largest municipality by area on the island. It includes the fishing towns of Puerto de Mogán and Arguineguín. Much of the population lives on the Atlantic coastline. The town of Mogán is about 8 kilometres from the coast, 11 km north of Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria and 40 km south-west of Las Palmas. The GC-1 motorway passes through the south of the municipality. There is a string of tourist resorts along the coast.
The main settlements are:

Puerto de Mogán
Puerto Rico
Puerto de Mogán is a picturesque resort and fishing village in the municipality of Mogán, set at the mouth of a steep-sided valley on the south-west coast of the island of Gran Canaria. It attracts many tourists either to stay or on day-visits. Canals linking the marina to the fishing harbour have led to it being nicknamed Little Venice or the Venice of the Canaries. Its beach (Mogan beach or playa de Mogan) has a good reputation. Restaurants and bars fringe the marina and the beach front.
On Fridays there is a very popular market which brings in tourists from all over the island. Puerto de Mogán has very few buildings over two stories high, and the government of Gran Canaria restricts new buildings taller than this.
Puerto de Mogán can be reached via a new extension of the motorway GC1 (opened in March 2013) which terminates just to the north of the village, and is also on several bus routes. The Cats' ravine (cañada de los Gatos or Lomo los Gatos) is located at the mouth of the Mogan ravine that opens onto Mogan beach. The valley of the Sea (cañada de la Mar) was also declared Property of cultural interest as archaeological zone, in 2005.

Mogan Market, Touristic Market in Puerto de Mogan, Gran Canaria [ES]
Sounds recorded at the touristic market in Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria. Plenty of tourists wander around the local market selling souvenirs and local handcraft in the charming little town of Puerto de Mogan located on the south-west of the Gran Canaria Island. Put your headphones on, calm down, relax and listen to the sounds. It's all that matters.

On fridays there is a big market which turns the old picturesque fishing port to a
lively town.
The market is on the streets from the port to the shopping centre.
This video is from the morning when all sellers prepare their tables.

Market Day Puerto Mogan Gran Canaria 2019 HD
Puerto Mogan is a picturesque fishing port. It appears to be undiscovered by the UK package holiday industry. This changed in 1966 summer season when Thomson holidays offered Puerto Mogan as a destination.
It has a sea water inlet with bridges and is know as Little Venice In total contrast to lively Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas, the picturesque town of Puerto Mogan is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. Set at the tip of the Mogan Valley, on the foot of a rocky outcrop looking out to sea, Puerto Mogan is based around a pretty yacht-filled marina. The old town is a cluster of quaint, typically Mediterranean houses and whitewashed cottages, which climb up a steep hillside.
The main resort also has a village-like appeal with buildings emblazoned with bougainvillea and overhanging geraniums lining the narrow streets. Aptly named ‘Little Venice’, a canal runs through the resort, spanned by a criss cross of enchanting footbridges, while the harbour-front simmers with quay side restaurants and bars.
